We’ll definitely be going back. It’s a great family spot. I was sitting there and forgot I was in California lol. Felt like I was on vacation in Texas. Next time I want to snag a table right by the dance floor. Can’t keep these kids and I from bustin a move. Food was bomb. We got the brisket burrito with the beans and Mac n cheese. It was big enough to share between my husband and I. And the girls got the kids chickn strips and fries at $7 a pop. Lemonades and sodas. We got out of there under $70/ with tip. If you want good bbq this is the place to be, and you better come early because they will sell out fast!! During my pregnancies I always crave protein and when that happens grand ole bbq ribs are the first thing I come for! I love to get the ribs and dip them half in the regular bbq sauce and half in the spicy bbq sauce! The absolute best! You can also never go wrong with the sides! My two favorites are the potato salad and the green beans, but we've tried them all and they were all so delicious! We typically sit inside just because the weather is usually too hot for me when we come, but we have sat outside once and I would love to do it again! It would be a perfect spot for the kids to run...
Cool place. Went with a group. Everything was delicious, but the pulled pork was dry and not as tasty as the beef, according to the people who had it Tri tip awesome, tacos good, cheese fries tasty! The chili is also very good. Their tri tip may be my favorite. Minimal fat, tender, BBQ sauce perfect. There is more than one BBQ sauce to choose from, as well. Sweet tea was good and not too sweet. Our server was fabulous. He was fun, attentive, and accommodating. We came for a casual birthday dinner, and everyone enjoyed themselves. It was hot out, and their AC rocks! Drove all the way out here to try texas style barbecue. They were out of most of the items unfortunately (only have limited stock), we tried the brisket and pulled pork. Portions were decent and big, although the sandwiches were a bit greasy, flavor was good. I really like that they have a bunch of free condiments and sauces, the sauce with a bit of spice to it (not the barbecue sauce) was in particular really good. but it's just too far and too expensive for me to justify going to. I've been here four times, and three times I was told they were out of ribs. No ribs, at a restaurant that specializes in... ribs. That's simply.....odd. If you want to get ribs, I suggest you bring your tent and camp out the entire night before (like Black Friday), otherwise you might be stuck eating a sausage or some brisket. Or, you can go to one of the other great bbq places in San Diego
After hearing such good things I have to admit I was a little disappointed. Had a bunch of gf's in town from AZ (not a good BBQ town I know) and they were equally unimpressed. Not bad, but not amazing. When the complimentary pickles are the thing we walk away talking about, I can't say it came even close to living up to the hype.
Good bbq. Probably the best smoked turkey I've had anywhere. Don't wait too late to go, they do run out of some of their more popular meats. Great place for kids too, there's always others there to keep each other busy. This is a hidden gem for families that want a fun atmosphere with their kids.
Favorite location. The brisket sandwich and the gob smash burger are my favorites. Also a side of the white beans and bacon is delicious. Awesome bbq spot off the 8 between lakeside and Alpine. Good beer selection, good food and a nice out door area in the back. There's a stage for music and there's often a band. Fun stuff
