I am no stranger to the dales, as my family and I used to visit when I was a child, sometimes twice a year. The Green Dragon Inn in Hardraw is very familiar to me, and I have seen many changes over the years. It had been about 15 years since my last visit, and I learned that it had only been open for a short time before I arrived. I was camping next door at the campsite in Hardraw, which was excellent and conveniently located for treks on the Pennine Way and up onto the moors. I needed a place to work on my laptop for a whole day, and the staff at the Inn were incredibly helpful. They allowed me to use a separate room to focus the following day. Fantastic little pub with some amazing history! Had my first ale here, which was great! Loved the atmosphere and the staff was very friendly and helpful! This is also a must do location for fans of the new All Creatures Great and Small series, you 'll recognize The Drovers Arms as soon as you walk in. Apparently the business is still recovering from the Covid mess, and hasn 't brought food back to the menu yet, but I can 't wait to come back and try it in the future!
I planned to stop by for a drink during lunch, but unfortunately, the restaurant is only open on Fridays to Sundays. I had a nice conversation with the owner, who mentioned that the cost of living in the area has led to less visitors. The location is lovely, and I hope it doesn't suffer the fate of many other Dales pubs that we saw closed and available for lease.
I stopped by for a few drinks after walking from Hawes, and the place hasn't changed much since I started visiting. The landlord was friendly and laid-back, and I enjoyed chatting with him. Just be aware that the card, phone, and watch payment methods don't always work, so it's best to have cash on hand. I'll definitely be back soon.

Lovely welcome from lovely staff. Really friendly ‘local’ and obviously we’re not local! Evening meal was excellent. Staff all friendly and attentive. Great room overlooking the Main Street. Fab breakfast in the morning with good parking Have no doubt about recommending and would happily stay again! Thank you.
Popped in for a pint and crisps in the afternoon after visiting the waterfall behind. Really cosy pub with interesting features throughout. Lovely flagstone floors and an open fire with great atmosphere. Really friendly staff with a few nice ales on tap.

Web site needs updating! No pie night on Thursdays and no food served Sunday lunchtime Otherwise, the pub was very atmospheric.
