Green Lane Fisheries

This has been my local fish and chip spot for decades... in fact, it 's been that way for as long as I can remember. It 's kind of a tragedy that this isn 't often mentioned in those Best Fish and Chips of South Shields lists, and rather it 's overpriced and underwhelming places such as Colman 's and the like that seem to get the limelight. Now, I 'm not trying to slate Colman 's at all here, I 'm simply saying that I find Green Lane far superior to anywhere else I know of when it comes to fish and chips. I remember going here as a child with my parents (I 'm in my mid-thirties now and the place has never changed. It 's old-fashioned, traditional, clean, warm and friendly. I visited recently...

…. Down at the beach with the dog, thoughts turned to chips, so we stopped off at Green Lane fisheries (open 11am to 3pm Saturdays). Thinking of the dog and his love for fish we ended up with freshly cooked chips and 2 pieces of cod. Obviously people had similar ideas as the small shop was busy, with great service. No ‘batter’ was available but our meal for two plus one dog was lovely.

every time I have collected food, I have been disappointed that this goes back from 10 years ago, to now just as beautiful as any, extremely friendly staff, great customer service one of the best family style chippys that we have around also broken crawls are to die for

I have been here for years and the quality of the fish is the second to none and they are always ready to travel and find the best fish, unfortunately the chips are absolutely disgusting. I'll give you another 5 stars, but you have to do something about your chips! Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch

have visited this fishing several times and would like to say that it is the most beautiful eating I tasted in a very long time. all staff are very friendly and knowledgeable for the fish. would achieve a massive 10/10 each time

I called at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday for fish and chips, but they were served stone cold and undercooked. Even the seagulls were hesitant to eat them.

We live very close great chip shop only niggle is they don't sell pies but a wide variety of fish
