Once seated, one of our party members started joking with the hostess, and she played along, setting a fun tone for the evening. Our server, Angel, quickly welcomed us, and we knew we were in for a treat right from the start. We placed our drink orders (I had a complicated request for my margarita), and while the drinks took a little while to arrive, Angel consistently checked in on us to keep us updated and made sure we had everything we needed. Gringo's is one of my favorite casual Tex-Mex restaurants. Today I ordered the Zapata platter from the bar. It’s a combo plate that includes a cheese tostada, a barbecued meat taco, two enchiladas, and the usual rice and chips with salsa. At $12.99, it’s quite reasonable. I’m not a fan of rice, so I requested double beans instead. Unfortunately, instead of receiving my usual fried beans, they gave me a bowl of charro beans this time. Normally, I might have given them a lower rating for the mix-up, but this isn’t typical for them, and I enjoy both types of beans, so it wasn’t a big issue. First of all, Jonathan was an excellent server! The Marisco sauce at this location is made with yellow cheese, which is different from the old Pearland location where they only used white cheese. It was still tasty, but I personally prefer the white cheese version. My partner had the mixed quesadillas and absolutely loved them! My father enjoyed the Al Pastor bowl as well. The biggest surprise was that my mother really liked the fajita tacos! She’s usually not a fan of Tex-Mex food, so that was quite the revelation. My family and I were there Friday night. Even though it’s was super busy we got seated and attended too, quickly. One of my family member accidentally spilled water cup and our server, Naomi, was fast to clean it up. She was ver attentive, friendly. The food was delicious as well.
