We found this restaurant online after arriving in Montreux. It’s located in old town Montreux, a short walk uphill from our hotel. We were four hungry travelers, arriving for dinner before the restaurant opened. The chef had not yet arrived, but Daniel let us in the side door, and got us started on what turned out to be a feast, and possibly the best meal we had in Suisse Romande! The chef suggested a charcuterie board as a starter, and we went for it! Great quality meats and local cheeses. We ordered the cheese fondue, served with bread, potatoes, cornichons, and Pearl onions. The day’s special was the endives, stuffed with ham and covered in a cheese gratin. Three of us were wandering through the old town in search for dinner spot and stopped by this small unassuming Cafe, unknown to us. It was fateful. The meal porcini with pasta for me and fondue paradise for my friends followed with unforgettable desert were delicious. The time was fun, and the whole experience was hilarious, thanks to the staff that may be easily mistaken for your family (I wish I could name and thank everyone). Five months later I am still smiling recalling this visit of the year. Highly recommended.
Wir hatten fantastisches Essen und freundlichen Service. Unscheinbar und ein wenig eigenartig, es fühlt sich sehr an wie ein lokaler Ort, wir waren die einzigen Touristen und obwohl es eine englische Speisekarte gibt, brauchen Sie vielleicht ein wenig Französisch, um mit dem Personal zu plaudern. Wir hatten ein erstaunlich gutes Fondue und Muscheln. Der Küchenchef hat auch freundlicherweise auf unsere Wünsche eingegangen. Würde es wärmstens empfehlen!
We had a fabulous meal in the old town of Montreux. It was a bit of a hike up the hill but the exercise was well worth it. The staff and patrons made us feel very welcome. The restaurant was also the local drinking hole for the residents of the old town which made the evening very entertaining. The cheese fondue was exceptional. Was delighted to discover that Grutli was still thriving. I visited here once before…..in 1979. Brought my family here for a Monday lunch. The staff were incredibly welcoming. We all went for the plat du jour a salad starter followed by a mushroom pasta. Two of the children also enjoyed a panna cotta. It was all really tasty, especially the pasta. Highly recommend.
Ich kann nicht genug über all die fantastischen Gerichte sagen, die ich hier gegessen habe. Der Besitzer und der Chefkoch sind so freundlich, es ist ein unvergleichliches Erlebnis. I would love to keep this place a secret..it’s that good! The food has real flavour and is prepared with pride. The service is super friendly and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. I personally love coming here for dinner and I hope you will too.

The best service. Not to cheap though. The cheese fondue was very nice. The wine was also very nice and very kid freindly.
