My friend and I headed to Grumpy Green as a result of a promotional voucher so thought we’d check it out.Due to the trivia night we were exiled to the courtyard, but at least we were advised before ordering so we didn’t need to shift tables.This is not your high end establishment (the Trivia night should have given that fact away). It’s Smith Street grunge at its best – kind of café meets live gig venue. We stopped here looking for somewhere to eat, not knowing anything about it. Staff were very friendly & helpfull. Food was yummy. My husband had the kangaroo & said it was the best kangaroo he'd ever had. Me being vegitarian had a delicious chic pea burger. Atmosphere was great. Will definitely be back to eat here next time we visit Melbourne.

A friend who's vegetarian organised for a group of us to have an early evening meal here. We sat out the back. The food was OK but we decided to move on to another place for desserts. My impression: Grumpy's is more oriented to bar service than table service, and it's definitely grungy. Go for the live music and drinks.

I enjoyed visiting - went upstairs with a friend to sit on the comfy couches - the staff were great and stayed open late just 4 us. Raining outside - very late to dink a bottle of wine The boys behind the bar were professionall and friendly - and interested in us. Go to Grumpy's green for a pitcher of local beer and good to excellent live music. The place is grungy to a fault but definitely a cool hangout. The food? Well if you're hungry and don't feel like çrossing the street to a burger joint, maybe. Not my favorite... But GREAT bar.

It is a small intimate venue with a nice ambience and a great music. The have very delicious vegetarian meals to chose from and enjoy while eating it.

Great little music bar with cosy atmosphere and tasty food - a good variety of seating including an upstairs viewing area.
