It was late and I was far from home at dinner time, some world famous fried chicken sounded great. I placed an order for a 3 pc dark meal on the phone, and I went to pick it up. It was about an hour before closing, and there were no other customers when I got there. The hostess mumbled something as she was turning away, I had to ask her to repeat everything at least twice. It seemed that I was annoying her. I paid for my meal and was SHOCKED when she said $15.69. I thought I misunderstood. Regardless, I paid and left. I came to this place by accident and ordered the mixed white and dark chicken, greens, mac and cheese and fried green tomatoes for my family. This was the best mistake ever. The person at the register was helpful and because I'd never been there heexplained everything from chicken has a kick to having pork in the greens so there were no surprises. The wait was 20 minutesbecause it was dropped to order which I greatly appreciate because it was still hot when I got home. Some of the best fried chicken in the area! My husband and I got takeout from here and it was a huge hit. Since it was our first time we did get more than we needed but that was not a bad thing for us! We got 1/2 chicken plate, tenders, baked beans, Mac and cheese, fried pickles, and pecan pie. All of the chicken was absolutely amazing. A little on the spicy side, but nothing too terrible. The sides were just ok, we ordered extra of them and learned our lesson for next time. The fried pickles were just ok, nothing special. Pecan pie was really good!! Overall this chicken is amazing and we have added this place into our rotation list! Would definitely recommend.
Oh my goodness. This meal was so delicious that I had to grab my phone and make sure to give them a 5-star review. The crispy chicken was a perfect 5 out of 5, the slight spiciness in the sides was also a 5 out of 5, and the portion size and weight of my platter were a solid 5 out of 5. I ordered the 3-piece Dark with baked beans and Mac and cheese, and everything was absolutely tasty with generous portions. The food was really good but for what it was, it eas expensive and portions were small. $50 is not much food for 3 people here. The okra was over cooked and there wasn't enough honey for the chicken and they need biscuits with the chicken instead of bread. Overall because of the small portions and the price, it was just okay! So disappointed, we sat for 30 minutes before anybody realized that our order never got put in and by that time they realized we didn’t have enough time to wait any longer. Irony of it was there having a staff meeting and forgetting about customers. By the time we walked out, people who arrived before us, had finished their meals.
Has seriously gone downhill. Prices are far too high for poor quality food. The staff is friendly, but the store is not well maintained. I never go back to establishments where I can smell the bathrooms in the dining area. Won't be back.
