Look, I 've eaten here a number of times, and generally have been satisfied with the service and food. However, my last experience was not up to par. I ordered the turkey sandwich at my servers recommendation. Eating it was problematic. The fresh bread fell apart, and the turkey, rather than being slices, was ground up bits which fell all over the place. Further more, it was rather tasteless, even with one piece of bacon and one slice of tomato. If the bread had been buttered properly I didn 't taste any, and if mayo, or better yet, cranberry sauce was used, perhaps the sandwich would have been enjoyable. It was obvious the short order cook threw this sandwich together very quickly. Normally...
I have never been so disappointed in customer service. I am a paying customer, who bought breakfast and two coffees here and started working on my laptop. About an hour later, one of the women working here asked me to “go somewhere else” as they were running out of tables. Completely shocked, I stood to leave and saw three open tables near me. Perhaps it was because I had a laptop and looked like a student that she felt she could treat me poorly. Perhaps she was just in a bad mood. In any case, I will not be returning. I went to TAN coffee down the road and had a delicious lunch and latte shortly after would highly recommend if you prefer good coffee and being treated like a human!
Stay on top of the consistency. What takes me and my friends back to this café over and over again it is knowing what to expect when we order. Recently, I have found that the kitchen seems to be using whatever they have on hand regardless of its freshness. I always order the Cobb salad because it contains good protein and healthy fats. You have to make sure that the hard cooked egg and the avocado are top notch and not yesterday's produce if you want to charge $15 for the salad. The real chicken and crispy bacon plus a dynamite vinaigrette never disappoint, so please don't let the other ingredients suffer.
I couldn't finish the burrito it was quite large. It was also really really good, fresh, and healthy. The chai latte was quite good too. They have a variety of baked goods available; the muffins looked gooood and the macaroons and nanaimo bars were huge! The service was super fast, and our server was very friendly and kind. They have free bananas! The bathroom is exceptionally clean and the whole cafe was immaculate.
The service was great and the food outstanding. The sweet potato panini is highly recommended complemented with either the creamy tasting mocha chai or the rich tasting dark roast coffee.
I would have preferred a bigger Americano (that's probably just me, though) but the one I had was excellent and the young woman who served me was very pleasant and helpful.
We like the early evening experience of a comfortable old world pub and roaring fireplace. An attractive and varied menu, and reasonable prices, makes return visit likely
