Here is the drill. The Halfway House sits across from Bull Lake on Highway 56, which runs North and South and is 39 miles long. It is in the far NE corner of MT and surrounded by the best scenery in the state. The North end of Hwy 56 connects to Hwy 2 and the South connects with Hwy 200 and this location is almost exactly midway between 2 and 200. It is one of the very few commercial businesses on the entire length of highway. It is also the local gathering place, especially during the summer, and always on Friday night, where they host their famous steak feed. The prices are rediculously inexpensive. Wow! Last night was steak night, and it was amazing. My wife and I both ordered the ribeye, cooked medium rare, along with a loaded baked potato and shrimp. The steaks were perfectly cooked and incredibly tender, and the potatoes were excellent, as well as the corn and Texas toast. The waitstaff were attentive; my two draft beers were always full, and my wife's coffee cup was never empty. We enjoyed great food and exceptional service at a very reasonable price!
The journey there was well worth it! The atmosphere was fantastic, and the staff was incredibly friendly—definitely not the typical pushy service you encounter in the city. The garlic fries were delicious, with just the right amount of garlic. The wings were on the smaller side, but given the price of $12 and the current inflation, I can't really complain. The chicken sandwich was excellent, featuring a thick piece of chicken breast rather than a cheap patty.
This bar is truly unique and has an intriguing history. I've been coming here for years, and it has undergone impressive changes over the past 15 years! It's a great place to visit, especially during concerts, which are always a lot of fun. The food is tasty, making it a perfect spot to grab a bite and enjoy a drink while you're nearby.

Lots of outdoor seating, with a pretty little creek running through the property. There was a setup outside for live music. Staff was nice, and they accommodated our large group and custom orders quite well. Burger and tots were decent. I prefer bacon to be crispy, but no major complaints.
Halfway House is a must-visit every time I'm in Northwest Montana. The surrounding natural attractions like Bull Lake, Bull River, Cabinet Mountains, and Kootenai Falls are simply stunning...
The small? is small but picturesque, has bar, dining, dome slot machines... I had dinner..Fish and Chips.OH MAN!. and the pizza now... It is worth the stop, good prices, good atmosphere....
The food is terrible, and the service is even worse! If you happen to get a drink, don’t expect it to be served with a smile.
