went for dinner on a Wednesday night. The place was almost full and 95% looked like they were of Korean or Asian heritage so that is always a good sign. Best to book a table as I think the word is out about this hidden gem of a restaurant. Greeted by staff with a smile. Very impressed with the overall food at Hansik Korean Restaurant.We had the most expencive preset option on the menu so we could try different samples of traditional Korean food.The food I rate 9/10 not a full 10/10 as the Kim chee and other staple Korean accompaniments were tiny to say the least and not enough for one person let alone two people.Staff 6/10.It begings with good service and thats where it ends as the staff are very slow at serving drinks and to ask for more accompaniments is a joke it just simply dosnt arrive.Chairs for big dinners like me are most uncomfortable but the ombience still pleasant and very busy when we visited. The customer service here needs improving.Didn't realise that this was a self service restaurant. There was no mention of it once we were seated. Plus we had left overs that needed to be taken away. We were only given the containers but no bag to go with it.The staff needs to know what is in each dish or at least some knowledge. If customers are asking you and your not sure then how are we supposed to Know?Just the little things that could be of improvement.The Bbq combo is way overpriced for what it is worth when there are no side dishes included and just enough meat for one hungry person! Had lunch here over the weekend and seems like there were quite a few diners of Korean heritage so I generally take that as an indication of authenticity. Anyway, it's a nicely laid out restaurant with pleasant atmosphere with mood lighting. We ordered Fried Chicken ($20) with Honey Soy (we had the sauce on the side but this will incur additional cost in future), Beef Bibimbap (which was definitely clean and light tasting, unlike those from some other Korean places) and Seafood Pancake. If you like Korean food (how could you not) then this restaurant is for you. In a very nice environment you can get very good tasting food at very reasonable prices. The service is very good too. If you've never had Korean food you can start with Bi Bim Bap - a rice meat and vegetable dish served in a cast iron bowl that cooks your food while you eat. It is very tasty. There are several types of fried chicken, and the usual Korean BBQ meats. Definitely worth a visit.
I have only tried the lunch time menu so far. Bulgogi beef and rice was good without being amazing and, another time, the hot and spicy chicken was exactly that and also sweet and sticky - delicious but after attacking the chicken with my hands I soon realised I wouldn't want to eat it in a desert without water close by. The dinner menu has more variety. Good service and nice atmosphere mainly female Asian, a good sign I'd say.
Wow! We didn't know what to expect but were blown away by flavours we had never experienced before. The atmosphere and service is very friendly and the presentation of the highest quality. The chef even came out to our table to cut up our BBQ! Now a favourite destination for the whole family. Suggest calling to make reservation instead of rocking up.
