ALERT The cafe building burned during the early morning hours of 12/17/2023. So sad!!!!!!!! Harris Ave Cafe holds 2nd place for our family among all the breakfast restaurants in Bellingham/Fairhaven. (First is Mount Bakery Fairhaven, but this cafe is a super close second. I had an amazing Polenta Rancheros and husband/son loved their Breakfast Chimichangas. I ordered a cornmeal buttermilk pancake, and even though it wasn't fork pull tender (haven't found that quality anywhere in Bham it was fluffier than anywhere else around, and richly flavorful too didn't even need syrup (though of course I did add some! . Small diner with bistro chops. My ground sausage and potato hash came with whole garlic cloves that deepened the taste into something more intense and interesting. Connected to an independent coffee shop, so great coffee.
Had a Reuben here that could stand up to most sandwich houses that are in the areaThey do put heart into what they make here.
Food is always great but service can be hit or miss, especially if you’re dining outside.
