Hashigo Sushi is a little spot tucked into the corner of the Big 5 parking lot. Despite many years of living in the area and visiting the shopping mall I had no clue it was here until other locals mentioned this spot, so keep your eyes peeled so as to not miss the spot. It's definitely a local spot that is a great kept secret! Pleasantly surprised as my expectations weren't high to begin with. I'll start with the drinks. We ordered a peach sake that came in a wine glass, it was quite tasty if you like sweet drinks. Same goes for the plum wine. For appetizer, we tried ribeye roll. It was different but bad but nothing to rave about. For main dish I tried the sashimi sampler. Most were very fresh. I went her with my Japanese Aunt, brother and niece. A little out of the way for us but it was worth the trip. She highly recommended it because everything is so fresh. I would have to agree! Everything was delicious!!! Staff was wonderful as well. Service amazing! We will all be back again! I do have to add a wonderful surprise is they had a saki there that was from my families home town in Japan. It's a small town so finding it was quite a surprise. Again, a must stop! Enjoy!
Imho, here are the must order dishes: red tuna, salmon bell, salmon sushi and crispy role with focus on the first 2. Of course, I didn't have to taste the whole menu, so this only concerns the dishes I tried, but the rest of the dishes we ordered can be for much less money elsewhere with the same quality as tuna sushi, unagi, albacore sushi, yellowtail sushi, assorted tempura, soft shell shrimp roll, spicy tuna roll, I would keep me a little bit good. Excellent quality sashimi, fat tuna, toro and salmon all melted in my mouth. Ask for what's in the season and get fresh washabi! The university was fresh and amazing!
