If you haven't tried Hayes Barton Cafeand Dessertery, you must. This super eclectic diner is decorated with memories from the 1940s and has such a great atmosphere! The staff was super nice and the restaurant was clean. The food was so delicious! We have: Beef Stroganoff egg noodles, fillet tips in a mushroom sauce, Heirloom tomato cake bowl with peas tomatoes and cheese, fillet and green beans NC Fish Stew Grouper, mussels, shrimps, scallops, saccotash, peas, bacon and house stock. And for dessert... your famous cakes. The pictures here do not do justice. We have the lemon blueberry with Cream Cheese icing, the banana pudding and the chocolate pise. Everything to die for!!! I love this place. I ordered the meat leaf dinner It was delicious. I'm a chef and the food was great. The Mashed Potatoes were perfectly boiled, the green beans were really seasoned. The Gravy was wonderful that I'll be back next week. The place looked very intimate and small, so chefs can draw attention to detail, which is very important in the culinary world.
A fantastic cafe that makes great meals! I would recommend stopping even if it was just to get cake. I had the tomato cake and beef straw. The service was incredible, and the meals were great. The cake is incredible, but I tried the chocolate pecan, lemon blueberry and banana pudding. There was no bad option.
Had to leave a birthday dinner on the street early so we could come here 9:00 to enjoy cake. The best in town! Night. Made.
