I would give 3.5! I love little hole in the wall restaurants and that's exactly the vibe it gives when driving by. It has a really cute and cozy interior. We got chips salsa and nachos to start. I got a 2-combo plate of 1 red enchilada and carne asada sope, another 2-combo plate with a red and green enchilada, and a carne asada quesadilla with horchata and lemonade. My only complaints are the cheese and red enchilada sauce. The cheese was a thinly shredded Colby Jack (probably the Mexican blend) and I didn't appreciate that. Our party of four visited this restaurant on a Sunday and had some difficulty finding parking due to the limited space. We ended up parking in the neighborhood nearby. The restaurant itself is small with limited seating. Upon entering, we noticed a countertop to the right with a register where we had to wait for someone to assist us in getting a table. Otherwise, the servers seemed to miss us completely. Once seated, our server was friendly and took our drink orders. I was in the area and craving some menudo, so I decided to stop by this restaurant since they offer menudo and pozole on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The location is easy to find, right off Aviation Blvd. However, the parking lot is quite small and the spaces are cramped, so it can be a bit tricky to navigate. The service was okay, not great. As soon as we arrived, Lisseth, our gracious host, greeted us with a friendly smile. She was incredibly helpful, answering all our questions and offering us an array of mouthwatering menu choices. Frijoles is a nice place to go for a good Mexican meal, the portions are ginormous. The wife and I both agree we really need to stop ordering our own burritos and just share one. I LOVE that they have good IPA on draft, very rare in a Mexican place. they have a few others, Great happy hour special on that draft, a 22 oz draft for $9 in a FROSTED MUG!!! I recently visited Frijoles, a charming little restaurant that I have always wanted to try. The layout was unique, with the kitchen dividing the dining area into front and back sections (we sat in the back). Our waitress was friendly and accommodating, with a beautiful smile. The food was delicious, particularly the Albondigas and Chicken mole enchiladas. The chips and salsa were good, and we even asked for the spicy habanero sauce. Frijoles has a full bar with margaritas and beer, and the waitress even gave my wife a red rose for Mother's Day. I will definitely be returning for more mole enchiladas. I give Frijoles 4.5 stars.
Went on a solo adventure today to this little restaurant by my job since I was running early and decided to eat there. I gotta start by saying that the decor is very nice I really enjoy all the colors and really everything that they did with the place. The service was great I was greeted by all the people working there and once seated they were all very attentive. I ordered a chile verde wet burrito which came with rice beans pork in salsa and covered in cheese and more salsa. Everything about the burrito was great so much flavor and big portion. Neighborhood Mexican eatery with patio seating as well as indoor seating. Takeout is available as well. They have daily specials and on Sundays, it's cheaper torta. We got chips and salsa to start and then I ordered the wet chili verde burrito while my friend got the fajitas. The food was filling and hearty. My burrito came with rice and beans inside, while the fajitas had the rice and beans on the side along with your choice of flour or corn tortillas. We both had leftovers for the following day. I'm writing an update, after having not visited in 7 years. Things have changed greatly. The front has been renovated to include a bar seating area. There is still a small rear dining room. The patio out front has been covered and new seating installed. Parking is still a headache. I dropped a star because they took my favorite pescado ranchero off the menu. Everything is still tasty as ever. Prices have gone up, but that is the case most everywhere these days.
