We tried lunch at Hercule Poirot for my birthday and I have to say it was absolutely exceptional. We moved to France a year ago from the UK and have struggled to find a fine dining restaurant but we hit the jackpot yesterday, the beautiful meals were so delicious and we felt it was very reasonably priced. They also catered for my vegetarian other half who usually has to be satisfied with omelette or veggie burger but he too was treated to an amazing dining experience. This was not only recommended to us by our local host, we also saw all the good feedback. After Sunday mass at the magnificent Roman church we walked half a block to the restaurant. It was good to have made a reservation, only one seating at noon and it was sold out. The atmosphere is beautiful in a Roman style curbed stone ceiling. The service and food were very good and we enjoyed our lunch. I had scallops and chicken from the region, my wife had a red beet salad and duck. The country bread was delicious. We drank sparkling water Badoit and two glasses of Syrah. 100 euros including service definitely a good value. We will be back. The mushroom cream « amuse bouche » was delicious.
Outstanding meal. We had the terroir local set menu and everything was absolutely perfect, from the apéros to the food and wine. Unhurried and professional service with every course explained. Perhaps not one for those who don 't speak French, but it doesn 't market itself as a tourist restaurant. Absolutely superb.
