Herrell's made it into the Yankee Magazine as one of the 36 best cream shops to visit in New England. I had been here a few years ago but couldn't remember much about it. Once we got into the shop we figured out how to go about ordering some scream. There were plenty of workers behind the counter. After we worked our way into the service line a nice young lady asked if shecould help us. She took one order and was off to make it. Another server came and asked if we were all set. I told her someof us hadn't ordered yet. She said we would have to wait for our original server to come back for the other orders. We recently celebrated a summer birthday with a Herrell?s ice cream cake.. They ask that custom orders be placed 10 days in advance. We were a little bit short of that but they agreed to make it anyway. They did a great job and it was delicious. Wewent pretty traditional with a layer of vanilla and another of strawberry.. In between we used fudge and cookie crumbs?Sogood!! Thank you to staff member Nora who made my phone order very easy. Traveled from Florida to visit Family, we stopped by here for some delicious desert and the sizes are worth their price! All the ice cream is locally homemade and served with love. This store had a back entrance from Thorne's an underground shoppingplaza (which goes up three stories). I enjoyed my visit to Northampton Downtown and Herrell's Ice Cream Bakery. Today, I gota small cookies cream dish with rainbow sprinkles, and I took my delicious time with each bite with the wooden spoon that isprovided. Great area and I would visit again next time I travel!!!
Only reviewing from a non-dairy perspective. Overall it's a pretty solid option but I do have two minor complaints. 1) You see all the delicious non-dairy options online only to get the 3 most bland options in-store. If I wanted chocolate or vanilla Iwould just get some ice cream from a grocery store. 2) There are actually a fair few ice chunks in the ice cream that I haven'texperienced other places offering an oat milk based option. for the first time at herrell's present side and it was very subduing. we had the No-Moo vanilla cookie and it was stringy and tasted like tapioca. also these were not real chocolate chip cookies. we had sheldon’s ice cream in southampton and they are 100 times better. we are staying with sheldon from now on.
my non-veg friend and I went here and absolutely loved it! she had a regular burned sugar and butter milk ice cream and I had the vegan, gf ice cream sandwich! 10/10 would recommend!
Very good ice creamNot my favorite (Toscanini's in Boston sets the standard for me), but I love coming back to try new flavors.
