My first impression was wow. I liked going down the stairs to enter the restaurant. You immediately felt you were entering somewhere new, a place you hadn't visited before. Maybe somewhere dangerous? Haha! It felt hidden from the outside world. In the space of a week, I visited Heya twice for dinners. First visit was on a quiet Monday night but the diligence from the waiter was very good. He was very keen on telling me what the restaurant had to offer and ensured I was enjoying my order.The second visit was on a busy Saturday night with a few friends. Heya Bar was a great little find walking through the Valley and it so happened it was a Tuesday and everything on the menu was 50% off. How awesome is that. Needless to say we over ordered and had a great meal with really great service from a kiwi guy that seemed to really enjoy his job and made us feel welcome the whole time we were there, even when we asked for a takeaway container. Awesome vibe in the place along with great food and service is why I will recommend Heya Bar to my friends when there in Brisbane. Tips are try the dumpling's, Chicken wings and the bbq pork fried noodles. All awesome especially on Tuesday.
This little Asian fusion bar has a little bit of everything. Great food, great atmosphere, amazing comedy nights on Thursdays, it's an absolute gem of a venue. The staff are all abundantly friendly and seem to get on really well together which just makes for a much more relaxed and chill environment. I got given a free drink while I was there for probably being a great person. Spoiler alert: I'm not a great person!The food is great too, a limited menu where everything on there they do well, which is the right way around to have it. This is the place I always meet up with people if I'm meeting friends in the Valley now.
Went for dinner with work colleagues for a management dinner & booked the private room. We had the Banquet menu & it's was definitely worth it. If we had our time again we probably would've booked a table as the private room wasn't set up to eat a dinner but had a delicious dinner, Staff were awesome & friendly. Out on a casual stroll on a Sunday evening in The Valley, this was a hidden surprise - wouldn't really know it's there until you see the staircase leading to the basement.Once there you find a nice Japanese atmosphere, with very friendly staff. Didn't try the food, I was too late for that, but the guys behind the bar were super friendly and I will return for the great service for sure. Nice touch with the 2 pinball machines as well
This place was really nice, basement level with a whiskey bar and a great Japanese menu. Loads of beers available, and the staff were all friendly and put up with my very inebriated state. Thanks guys. This place made me feel a little less homesick for Melbourne as well, had that same grungy vibe of a lot of bars I frequent. The food here is really good too, and serves pretty damn late.
Spent a couple of hours here on a Thursday night recently & absolutely loved it. Dimly lit with ample casual seating areas and really tasty bites to share. Music was great & you could still enjoy it while actually talking & hearing each other! The staff were all terrific & keen to assist me with choosing a cocktail. Will definitely be back! It's a real hidden gem in the Valley.
I organised my best friends hens night here with 7 ladies, we booked the pantry section and had an amazing night! The staff were fantastic, very accommodating and was super easy to book. Loved the vibe, the music and overall scene. Bar food was very tasty but could do with some more salad. Service chilled yet warm. If only this was my neighbourhood bar!
