Bought a med cod and large chips tonight. Absolutely disgusting the chips were so oily they broke as you picked them up and the cod was dry and totally bland. What's up with that batter as well no flavour what so ever. I haven't been there in years but I was in the area so thought I have cod n chips but never again from there I won't ever be returning. What happened to the good quality where has it gone? Chips should not be that oily you feel like you've drank a bottle of crisp n dry after eating less than a 1/3 of an portion and chips should not break apart and be that mushy either. Honestly such a shame the standards have dropped that low. I've taken a picture but I'm unable to upload it....
I just got home with my a large cod and large portion of chips from Hi-Tide, expecting a satisfying helping to enjoy with my kids. However, upon arriving home and opening the package, I was extremely disappointed. The portion size was minuscule, barely filling the container. To my surprise, the excessive amount of wrapping paper made the package seem much larger than it actually was. Disgruntled, I decided to visit another chip shop nearby. Even their small portion was significantly bigger than the large one from Hi-Tide, and the chips themselves were noticeably fresher. To add to the negative experience, the service at Hi-Tide was sluggish. I waited at the counter for at least 3 minutes bef...
I have frequented Hi Tide for years and have recommended this place to lots of friends and colleagues. I will never give a false review because it is unfair to any establishment. Therefore, I will continue to say, it is still one of the best for fish and chips but........PLEASE get your act together when placing people to serve the public behind your counter. What a rude, disrespectful encounter I had with one of your staff recently. It is evident that this person needs to be taught to treat ALL who walk into your place and are paying customers, with the same level of courtesy and respect! Hands down the best fish and chips in the area. Freshest ingredients, crispy batter , fresh tasting fish and the chips are delicious. I have tried numerous fish and chips shops in the area and they have been decent however this place is that level above. Nothing is stodgy it's all fresh and flavoursome. The staff are friendly and always up for a chat, they keep you company as they cook up the fresh fish. Great portions too I don't have any pictures at this point but I'll try and upload later . This is my favourite go to place for fish and chips Lakers in seven kings is my favourite chicken shop. Unique in that it's the best quality and does not taste cheap. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
So many reviews pointing to the same issue...portion sizes...and they're correct. More specifically, the chips. Come on guys, you're getting downvoted and risking your business profile for being tight on fried potatoes. Also, what happened to just scooping chips onto the paper and not a tray (clearly for portion control). Unfortunately, I never went back after taking two hits on small portions.
This restaurant served awful oily, mushy chips and a dry, bland piece of cod. Half of the cod was eaten by pigeons. The owner suggested I should have returned the dish, which I probably should have done. However, after trying a few bites of the extremely greasy food, I had no desire to eat it again. The chips were crumbling apart and the cod was drier than a pair of desert flip flops.
I have been going to Hi Tide for over 40 years but the service has deteriorated. They never seem to have what you want and they don’t seem to care. It’s a take it or leave it attitude. I will leave it and find somewhere else to get my fish and chips
This place is the best! They made me a large portion of cod and chips right before closing time, and it was absolutely delicious. They definitely made this hungry man very happy. Thank you! Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
