We celebrated my mother's 85th birthday at The Hickory Inn with 40 guests last weekend, and it was wonderful. The food was incredible, especially the roast beef, which was tender and full of flavor. We had a private room, and our waitress was not only friendly but also helpful and efficient. She even took photos of our group to share with a family member who couldn't be there. She assisted us with the flow of our short program, making everything run smoothly. I would highly recommend this venue for an event. The following evening, we returned for dinner, and once again, the food exceeded our expectations. The roasted chicken was particularly delicious.
I've visited this restaurant twice, and both experiences had their highs and lows. During my first visit for dinner, I was really impressed with our wonderful and attentive waitress. The ribs were fantastic, and the walleye was quite tasty as well. However, my second visit, which was on a Sunday afternoon, was disappointing. Our waitress was rude and unfriendly, which was a stark contrast to my previous experience. I also suggest avoiding the wraps; they had very little chicken and were lacking in flavor. Overall, the ribs and burgers are great, but the service can be inconsistent.
While visiting Minneapolis, I stopped by this restaurant around 1:30 PM. Unfortunately, the food was quite disappointing. My boyfriend ordered the BBQ ribs, and I opted for the quarter chicken. Both dishes were extremely dry and lacking flavor. They were accompanied by canned green beans and very basic mashed potatoes, with no alternative sides offered. The salad bar was limited to just shredded iceberg lettuce and croutons. The only redeeming quality was the pool table, which earned them a point.
If I could leave no stars I would. They don't have a children's menu, which is fine. But not a very family friendly place. The food takes forever to arrive. My food was not very good. I only took a bite and the waitress never asked if there was anything wrong with it. I put this in the type of place that I would only eat at if I was really drunk, otherwise avoid.

I would not recommend it! I ordered a shrimp basket. Normally a shrimp basket is some cheap little shrimp maybe has a tail, maybe not. These were shrimp sticks....just like fish sticks. Minced shrimp! It was terrible.
The service was very friendly, and the specials were delicious. Be sure to try the Hickory Burger and definitely don't miss out on the French fries!
We just left after waiting an hour for our food and receiving nothing! We left $40 on the table just to escape this completely inept restaurant.
I played 75 in pull tabs and won $2. It's a decent place, but I haven't had the chance to try the food since the gas grill closed at 9 PM.

I really enjoyed the food and service! I'm planning to return for more, which says a lot considering I live over an hour away!
We just stopped here for lunch. The service (Linda) and the food were both AMAZING!!
