If you are someone who has ever relied on the Short Hills Hilton for its pool, do not go back! This corporate office park hotel which should be coveting local guests who visit exclusively to use the pool on the weekends has gotten too big for his britches and has decided that it won’t let you use the pool until check in time at 4 p.m. We arrived at 1 p.m. with a carful of kids and senior citizens to check into our multiple rooms. My partner and I booked a three night stay for a king size bedroom through the Hilton app and the stay was confirmed with a confirmation email for the king size bed type. However, upon arrival, the front desk staff and manager stated that they did not have any king size bedroom availability except for a suite. The hotel app room type inventory was clearly not updated upon booking, but the manager would not work with us to accommodate us in the only room with a king size bed (i.e., the suite), for example, offer a discount on the suite given the inventory inaccuracy. This hotel was once exceptional, but unfortunately, it has been brought down by an unpleasant and unfriendly staff throughout the service chain. I usually try to focus on the positive and believe in not speaking unless I have something nice to say, but my experience here compelled me to share my thoughts because it was truly astonishing. Worst hotel stay ever. Let’s begin w/ checking in and when I was getting into bed there was blood all over the sheets! Then after a 10:20pm room change, I went to shower in the am and the shower didn’t work, maintenance had to come in and do a temporary rigging so could at least shower and get out of this hotel as quickly as possible. Not sure if the alternatives but I will research if business finds me there again. The staff was nice but seemed unengaged. The room was nice, but the door must be made of paper since we heard everything happening in the hallways (kids running around at 11 p.m., drunk people screaming at 2 a.m. walking to their rooms). I didn't feel completely safe in the parking lot, given the grumbling concert and rusted-out pipes. You are close to the mall and getting to main highway is easy. Getting into the parking lot is a 10min adventure of strange turns and badly labeled signs.
This was the worst hotel experience I have had. The hotel is horribly run. Do not stay here. The rooms are paper thin and you can hear anything and everything next to you. The rooms are dirty. You are given no care and the food the food was so gross that my dog wouldn’t eat it. This was literally a horrible stay. For a Hilton I am so incredibly disappointed! It was so disgusting. I am a diamond club member for Hilton but this hotel was a MOTEL.
I totally agree with another review.I stay overnight and feel not SAFE at all, more like terrified all night.It is not safe going to the hallway at 9pm or later. On the second floor, people were having a huge party walking drunk, hopping from room to room until 1am. Security never comes by and says anything at all. Doors in hotel pepper thin, can hear anything at all, even though the walls.Not SAFE to stay in this hotel, would not recommend.
This hotel provides all types of amenities including a full set Fitness Center, an indoor pool and a hot tub. The staff is very professional accommodating. The rooms were clean. Checkout was very fast but they need to improve the time it takes to check-in. The only reason I rated this restaurant four stars instead of five is due to the parking fee and the prices for food and drinks. Firstly, it's not in a location that would typically allow for easy access. The $18 parking fee feels excessive, and the area where you have to park can be a bit concerning, as some reviews mentioned. However, the pool was really nice, and the overall ambiance was fantastic!
