This restaurant has gone from great to disappointing to downright unacceptable. I've been a loyal customer for years, but the quality of the food has steadily declined to the point where it's no longer edible. My last experience was particularly shocking; I ordered lamb vindaloo and received mostly bones with hardly any meat, along with a small portion of stale potatoes and just two slices of lamb. The dish was completely tasteless—I'm not even sure what I was served was real vindaloo sauce. It's disheartening to see a place I once loved fall so far in terms of food quality. I've been utterly disgusted, and this has happened over the last six orders. You can do much better than this, friends...
Yesterday, my friend and I went to Himalayan Cafe restaurant seeking authentic Nepali flavors, but were disappointed. We were very excited as we drove 1hr to get there. Upon arrival, the server seemed uninterested and complained about resource shortage. The unprofessionalism of the server made us uncomfortable. The food quality was below average, leading to stomach issues next morning. We had ordered 1 plate chicken chowmein, 1 plate Chicken Momo, Samosa chat and Gajar ko Haluwa (desert). It's very concerning if this reflects the overall management. I hope it was just an off day, but based on our experience, I cannot recommend this place for those seeking authentic Nepali cuisine.
I ordered chicken biryani, and it was the worst I’ve ever had. Instead of preparing a proper biryani, they dumped a bunch of frozen vegetables into it and added just a few pieces of chicken. The rice was clumpy and lacked any biryani flavor. After reading the reviews, it seems that only American diners are praising this restaurant, possibly because they don’t know what genuine Nepalese or Indian food should taste like. Most of the reviews from Indian patrons are negative. If you’re considering trying Indian cuisine, I strongly advise you not to waste your money or time at this restaurant.
This place is a hidden gem. We got take out from them once and then we decided to eat there in person. Their food is delicious. The food had so many complex layers of flavor explosions. The quality of the ingredients and meats were great. Ask for some of their home made hot sauce. Owner is very friendly. Good vibes. We’re making this one of our regular spots. Absolutely incredible! This might be the best restaurant in San Dimas. The authenticity is remarkable, and the flavors are both delicious and rich. They truly excel at using spices, and you have the option to tailor the spiciness of your dishes. The salmon tikka masala and shaag are some of the best things I’ve ever tasted. Make sure to enjoy them with garlic and onion naan!
One of the worst Nepalese restaurant I have ever seen. We had the absolute worst hospitality for the server. Was extremely rude. Furthermore, the food was really bad. In fact we found frozen veggies all over my food. No raita in biryani. Raw chicken in momo. Not a place I would recommend people for any Nepalese or Indian food.
This has got to be one of the best food establishments we’ve ever been to. The staff are so friendly and hospitable. They make you laugh. And the food is some of the best Nepalese-style food we’ve ever had. You have to try them!
