Hino Oishi Hibachi And Japanese Cuisine

I struggled with this review. Hino Oishi is close to our new home and as much as I love Japanese food/culture, etc., I don 't feel that a top rating is warranted. We sat on the table side , the smaller portion of the restaurant versus the hibachi side . The table side had a few (3 to 4) of maybe a dozen tables occupied. The hibachi side was not completely full but close to it..with families and friends having a great time. We ordered two servings of miso soup, gyoza, and chirashi (sashimi) with sushi rice. I did not find the sashimi as fresh as I am accustomed to, even in Indiana. Just did not seem as good as I expected it to be. Now I am not using the East Coast or West Coast or even Japan...

This place has been here for years but it's been years since I was here. Celebration for a birthday for a guy with many food allergies. They were so accommodating and cooked his meal on a separate unit so no worries of cross contamination. Our youngest diner was mesmerized by the showmanship of our chef and the only one who caught the rice in his mouth. The rice servings were huge per person. The salad dressing was loved by all. My filet was excellent and the shrimp people loved theirs too. The yum yum sauce was just that!! One ordered a dragon roll and it was huge and good. We used to love this restaurant a few years back. But in the last year or two, the food taste has gone down quite a bit. It has been very inconsistent depending on the the hibachi chef you get. The rice is bland and meats are over salty and seafood is soggy in all the sauce. The person taking our order at the most recent visit was a bit rude because we had food allergies and he was trying to accommodate but seemed irritated about it. I miss the old staff and chefs. We will probably not go for a while.

My wife took me to Hino Oishi for an early Father 's Day dinner. I 'd wanted to go there for a while, but didn 't.... 'til Saturday, 6-17. I wish we 'd gone a long time ago; it was terrific. The food, the drink and the people are top notch! I had the Sea food something ; lobster, shrimp and scallops, my wife filet and scallops and we both had a glass of plum wine(mmmmm, plum wine). Our hibachi chef cooked the food to perfection while entertaining us with his skills. We WILL be going back!

Wonderful meal with my family. Great service, essentially a private table, and the chef was professional and wonderful to observe. Highly recommendedFood: 5/5
