We enjoyed our meal at a motorway service station Hippopotamus on the way down to the South of France, so we deliberately planned a trip back via a Hippopotamus. This was a great location for a late lunch near to Calais for our return Eurotunnel journey. The restaurant was very quiet as it wasn 't lunchtime (we had called ahead and they said they were open all day). Morgane was our waitress and she was friendly and attempted to speak some English and was nice about our French attempts too. Food was delicious. Especially love the 'A volonte ' sides. My husband and i have been coming here every year around the neginning of december for the past years but im not sure we will be coming here ever again after today. We came here for lunch and ordered french onion soup. Surely a...staple here in France especially as the clue is in the name. We got half a bowl of soup at It was good but not worth the money. My burger was missing it's bacon and tomato whilst my husband's was under cooked and missing the onions. Surprising as we had waited an hour between the starter and main course. Dinner is even worse although our bowl of soup was full we got the wrong way undercooked steaks and an hour and a half after arriving are still waiting for the reco...
Nous sommes venues avec mes collègues pour passer un bon moment. Nous avons eut une première serveuse qui était adorable, une seconde qui était maladroite dans ses propos « je n’ai que deux mains » or que nous avions juste demandé nos repas et couteaux au bout d 1h passe d attente. La première serveuse est revenue et nous a servi nos repas. Ceux ci étaient froid et il manquer un repas que ma collègue a eut 45 minutes après, heureusement que la serveuse est aller en cuisine pour insister. Plusieurs personnes dans le restaurant ce plaignaient des repas froid et mal servi! C’était une première pour nous et ce seras également une dernière! En tout cas merci à notre serveuse qui était adorable!
This is a group, so this is particulary unpersonnal food. The carte is the same in every restaurant. Nevertheless, the staff is particulary helpfull with clients, the terasse is nice when sunny. Prices a la carte are a bit expensive, but menus are good value...for money.

This is pretty much the same as most Hippo's around France. The service was very friendly, The meat was tender enough -sides fine (fries and green beans). No surprises here.
Les repas choisis étaient très bons. Nous avons bien mangés. Cependant, nous sommes assez étonné par le nombre de plats en rupture . Endroit très calme
