Best gluten free fish and chips I’ve had , being celiac is always a bit of a risk when getting a takeaway, not now , these are the cream of the crop. The fish was absolutely superb with a really nice crispy batter, the chips looked as good as they tasted and I even managed to get a bottle of g/f vinegar,which was a bonus as most shops that do g/f fish and chips don’t have the vinegar, we all know salt and vinegar is a must with fish and chips. Excellent service by friendly owners and staff. I would highly recommend a visit and will certainly be back myself shortly.
So, many people know that for the best fish chips you have to go to Yorkshire. But once in Yorkshire, what then? Go to Hirds Family Fisheries. You will be amazed how good it can be. The Hird's are the ninja's of Fish and Chips. They make it look easy but don't be fooled, they are on a different level than everyone else. They really deserve 6 stars. Pro tips: go when it's busy between 5 and 6, skip lunch, don't try try to dislodge chips that are stuck to the paper with a plastic fork.
Do not look anywhere else for the loveliest gluten free and dripping free chips and friendliest service. We came here after leaving a local fish and chip restaurant feeling embarrassed as I’m coeliac. The owner of Hirds understands this completely and it’s so refreshing. Thank you
