This place was recommended to us by a local lady, so we decided to give it a try. Admittedly it was clearly a very busy evening for them, but we queued for 25 minutes hoping to eat in only to be told that we 'd have to wait another HOUR for gluten free food to be prepared. It doesn 't take much effort to put up a temporary notice saying an hour 's wait for gluten free this evening so that people don 't waste their time. We ended up going to Eric 's, which was equally busy but the staff made room for us and we had our meal within half an hour. (For what it 's worth, I really don 't like leaving negative reviews, but I 'm leaving this one in the hope that it will spur the owners to give a bit...
I had gluten free Cod Chips, which was absolutely fantastic, it is really difficuilt to get true gluten free fish chips but the Holt Fish Bar totally delivers. We live in Colchester and this was our first visit. We will definitely be going back again. This is the first time I have ever given 10/10 for the owner truly understanding the meaning of gluten free. Thank you so much for a fabulous lunch.
If you're visiting Holt and looking for some where to eat you must try Holt's Fish Bar. Ultraclean dine in area with friendly service and fabulous food. Went for a Senior Special Half Cod, Half chips, choice of mushy peas, beans, gravy or curry sauce which also included a hot or cold drink at just £8. Will definitely come again best tasting Fish and Chips in North Norfolk!!
Did a large order for our team of volunteers and staff (30 people) as a thank you lunch phoned the order through and collected on time. All correct with, helpful added items of sauces, forks and serviettes etc. All food was well cooked, delicious and everyone enjoyed the lunchtime treat thank you. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
Nice place and staff, really good chips curry sauce… but unfortunately the batter on the haddock was very undercooked soggy. Huge piece of fish so it’s a shame it wasn’t the best. Probably a one off looking at the other reviews.
You catered for my friends and family last Friday 11th Dec. Your fish and chips amazing. There was 11 super happy people after eating a superb meal. Freshest fish and delicious batter. You are THE BEST.
Always friendly, always fresh, always tasty a great place to get fish 'n ' chips. Seating inside or takeaway and a tasteful recent refurbishment ensures the place remains spotless. Excellent.
