I booked a reservation for a 9 person table to start off my sisters hen weekend. They took a £10 deposit that would be taken off the total bill after the meal. Reviews and Instagram looked decent so was hopeful of a good experience. I’ve never had such an upsetting experience as this was. When I’d booked over the phone, the server asked me about dietary requirements to help them prepare. I explained we would all be vegetarian and they confirmed they could accommodate. Really disappointed. Expensive, tasteless and everything tasted of just bland cream. We had the Traditional Afternoon tea which was £18 each and additional cake slices. The scones were raw in the middle. Some were not edible. The sandwiches were just average. The cakes on the tier and the caramel pot were the same cream just churned out in different look. Poor effort at high prices. The separate cake slice was Victoria sponge but had no jam or a ‘lick of it’ if that,l. I 'm afraid I didn 't get the opportunity to even order a birthday cake from here as the lady serving was so rude for some inexplicable reason! Went in to enquire about a cake and was told that it would be £25 for a fresh cream cake to serve around 4-6 people. Was fine with that and she quickly pushed forward without me having the time to respond. She added a birthday topper for £5 then after looking at the website, she said that the cake would actually be £30, as shown on their website. Visited honey bees cakes a couple weeks ago with my friend and our babies. Disappointed that there is no baby changing unit in the toilet. The owner asked me to change my baby on the toilet floor or corridor floor when I approached her regarding baby changing facilities. The owner is rude and has no customer service skills. I can see from others reviews that they have experienced the same rude behaviour which is not acceptable. She needs to learn to be nice to her customers as I can see from other reviews that she has lost a number of local customers due to her poor service. I would not recommend this place. Unfortunately, this restaurant is declining in quality. It used to be a reliable local spot, but it seems that the owner has taken on more than they can handle. The staff, especially the lady at the till, are clueless about the menu and services offered. I tried to order a Mother's Day gift for my wife, but the lady had no idea what I was talking about. The chocolate covered strawberries were moldy and the roses were wilting. It's clear that the owner is overwhelmed and unable to keep up with the workload. Visited today for Mother’s Day. Lovey tea room, beautiful space with a quiet and relaxed atmosphere. Staff were so polite and very attentive without being over bearing. Tea and coffee was topped up when requested. Food was delicious- great selection of sandwiches (separate ham jam for the children) the scones were fresh, warm and tasty. Our tummies were full but we still managed a couple of the small cakes, which again were so nice. What we couldn’t manage we were able to pack up and take away. A lovely afternoon in a lovely place. My husband and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary with a cream tea at Honeybees. The ambiance was peaceful, the staff were welcoming and accommodating, and the food was delightful. We couldn't finish everything, so they kindly allowed us to take our scones home. We will definitely be coming back. Thank you.
