I was getting off work so my husband went to go pick up our online order. It gave me the option to put in what name to use for the pick up order so I put his. The order was supposed to be ready by 7:18 PM and he got there at 7:22 PM and they couldn’t find the order because it was not under his name. It had no name on it but luckily, I screenshot in the order number and gave it to him. Then they asked him to wait outside because the order was not ready. We’ve been dining here for 15+ years, which says it all really! We have very fond memories of before it expanded, we always aim to get one of our old tables. Yesterday was my first time at this restaurant and I had a great dining experience. We tried four different sushi rolls, which were very enjoyable and the portion size was perfect for the two of us. I specifically asked for a spicy specialty roll called Super Mario, but unfortunately, the lime flavor was too overpowering for my taste. The rest of the sushi rolls were delicious. I also ordered a 3-item combo with salmon teriyaki, Chicken Katsu, and Tempura, which was the perfect portion size. The restaurant was busy on a Friday night, so I recommend avoiding table number 1 as it is too close to the entrance door and the noise can be distracting. We recently moved to Oceanside just before the pandemic and spent time trying out various sushi restaurants in the neighborhood. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with five of them and only found one that was just okay. However, our luck turned around when we discovered Hooked on Sushi. We have been loyal customers for the past three years and visit twice a week for their lunch special. The albacore at Hooked on Sushi is the freshest and most tender I have ever tasted. I was brought to this restaurant by a friend for takeout when I used to work in Oceanside. I decided to dine in for old times' sake, but I was not impressed. The prices were reasonable, but the sushi lacked flavor. Additionally, paper towels should be provided in the restrooms. The service, food, and atmosphere all received a rating of 3 out of 5. Oh my goodness! The rolls were incredibly fresh and bursting with flavor. The quality was truly amazing. I highly recommend this restaurant. We tried the Carlsbad, California Dreaming, Yesterday, and Homie rolls, all of which were fantastic.
