Our family has enjoyed several breakfasts at Hooksey's. Family owned and run you get excellent quality food that tastes great and friendly service. My favourites are the toasted western sandwich and all-day breakfast with poached eggs, sausage and rye toast. Lots to choose from so you'll find something you like. The fish and chips is very popular too. We visit Hooksey's at lunch time, order our favorites and stay satisfied all afternoon. Great food and good value. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.
I guess after reading most of the reviews I was expecting an above average F&C place. Considering all those in Durham I would rate it average! Our young waitress was friendly and attentive but the wait for standard halibut & chips was 25 minutes. The coleslaw was good, the fries were warm not hot and the fish was overcooked so it was dry and I doused it with vinegar. OK but not our first choice in F&C joints.
This is a no frills diner style eatery located funnily enough, just a few steps from the new "No Frills" grocery store in Whitby. The restaurant is not fancy, but the menu is ample, food and prices are both very good. Service is quick and staff is very friendly and attentive. Orders are filled quickly and you are in and out in less than 30 minutes. Lunch for 2 including tax and tip is about $25.
The staff always goes out of their way to make my family and myself feel well taken care of. I have small children and they are considerate of always placing sharp/hot items out of reach, they predict our needs (extra napkins, smaller servings for the kids). We go in there once a month for fish and chips and its awesome .Huge portions , fresh food family own so everything is fresh made . and the other food is excellent too You can get a huge western sandwich that is delicious
It's the best place to go for a quick breakfast. It's family run, and they are always glad to see you. Food is amazing. I love the big catch breakfast. It's cheap, taste great and you leave full!
My husband and I are regulars for breakfast here. The staff are always so friendly and their breakfast plates are always top notch. We will continue to be loyal customers.

This restaurant has a great breakfast and greek salad. The owner will not give out her recipe for the greek salad dressing. Nice family restaurant. Can't go wrong.
