Hadn't had Hooksey's in a few months. it was our go to for fish n chips since moving to Whitby 13 years ago. I placed our usual order. My wife likes 2 Haddock and a small Greek salad. My son gets Chicken fingers, no fries and a Greek side salad and a Poutine. I get a single Halibut and Chips. I placed the order and went through it 3 times with the gentleman on the phone since it is specific. I picked up the order and when I arrived home there was no Poutine in the bags, a small Greek and large Greek salad when I requested two small salads. The chicken fingers came with fries that we didn't want. I called and informed them that I didn't get the Poutine I ordered so I went back and got it. The...
Stopped by and ordered the double fish (haddock) and chips with gravy. The place was busy, the lady that took my order Sunday was pleasant to deal with. The haddock was good, the wife enjoyed the thicker batter and they were fried to a perfect crisp, the fries were hand cut maybe double fried which was good, I enjoyed the gravy. The only thing is they don’t make their own tartar sauce which would have been great to see. We fed two adults and two little humans with the order (under $30).
Excellent value and very well-sized portions. We went for the haddock and chips with an extra piece of halibut. Delicious! With a side of gravy (yum! we finished our meals in a flash. The service was awesome. Quickly served with the friendliness we all yearn for. We would have posted photos, but forgot to take them as we were drawn into our meals!
I have been going here for years and I could not be more disappointed in the fish and chips we got tonight . There was like a quarter inch of fish and nothing else but batter . I do not know what is the cause of this but I am certain to say I will take my business eksewhere . James in Whitby
I came here with my family a couple days ago for the first time, and i am very impressed. The fish was cooked to perfection and the customer service is amazing. My waiter, Aj made sure I had the best experience possible, make sure to ask for him. I definitely recommend this place everyone.
Ordered fish and chip for take out and was very pleased. A generous piece of halibut, well cooked, with plenty of fries a generous serving. They even cut a corner out of the Styrofoam container so that steam could vent instead of making everything soggy.
Went here for breakfast with my brothers family on a Saturday morning. Very homey place. Lots of regulars. Not overly fancy but a good breakfast with friendly staff and quick service. I had the breakfast with the peameal bacon. Good serving size.
Delicious fish and chips! Taste very good and fresh, portion are big. Highly recommended. The mushroom omelette taste good and big portion as well. We also had fish with Greek salad, the salad portion are big and taste very fresh and good.
Excellent food and service!!!!!!! The best in the area. Good quality food and fair prices. Mother and son owner go above and beyond for every customer.
