Hôtel Campanile Macon Sud Chaintré

This well-appointed restaurant is next door to the Ibis Bistro and serves travellers staying at the many nearby hotels. The environment is lovely, a nice mix of outdoor and indoor tables and the cooking area is visible under a domed roof. Our first waiter was quick and friendly. Within minutes we had a bottle fresh local rose and our main courses arrived shortly after. Burgers were plain but well cooked, plentiful chips but no extra effort with side salad or dressing. We ate here on our stop over on the way to the French Alps. The restaurant is in a great location, right next door to one hotel and walking distance from a number of others. This is our second experience of this chain and we deliberately chose it because of our first experience. We were not disappointed, even though we were eating a little early for the French, we were welcomed and served promptly. Staff were friendly and helpful especially the trainee. Our meal was cooked as requested and very tasty, we both stuck with that French classic, entrecôte and frites and then enjoyed a nice dessert. We would eat here again if staying nearby.

We have visited this restaurant most years when staying at the next door hotel. This year's experience, on 20 January, was dreadful. There were not enough staff, and the service was very poor. The young lady who was cooking the grill food was having to deliver the food herself, and ours arrived before anyone had cleared the starter plates. The fish in foil had been on the grill since the starters were ordered, and was thoroughly overcooked and dried out. We will visit again, because it is convenient, but hope for a better experience next time.

We're English and sometimes struggle a bit with French language but last night we had a good laugh with our server who went out of her way to be friendly and helpful. Salad and bread to start then a goats cheese tart (soft and microwaved a bit naff) then burger and chips washed down by 9euro disgustingly chilled red wine. We had a laugh ! Very convenient when driving through France on the motorway but when we went on 7/8/15 we were put on a table near the window where there were loads of flies. Flies on the table, landing on the bread baskets, near the food grill...We moved ourselves to another table to the displeasure of the waiter Cyrille but then got a nicer waitress and the food was OK.

A Tuesday night visit pretty quiet. Staff were slow to seat us and then disappeared for 10 minutes. Food arrived fairly quickly after we ordered but staff never came back to check everything was ok or if we wanted more drinks. As soon as we put out cutlery down, plates were shipped away. Service could be so much better and friendlier and lets it down!

Simply the best steak meal at a great value price! The food is BBQ'd as you watch and the service is friendly and unobtrusive. Great local wine too a lovely start to our holiday as we travelled through France

The food is bad. Meat is not tenacious and tough and cold. Vegetables heated 5x. After complaint to the manager the meat was reheated but still cold. Very rude manager. Never again. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch

Awful meal , tough steak , RUBBISH salad.. Allin all not a good experience . No problem getting a reduction on the bill , though.
