The HDP, as we like to call it, is utterly UTTERLY french. Living in the village, I 've come here several times. Whether it 's for a great shot off coffee, a wonderful meal, or a couple of nights away from the kids... it 's never a disapointment....The wifi is good and it 's been the heart of the village for the last 40 years at least. Monsieur fishes the little fish from the river and serves them up fresh for you. If he 's not wiping glasses at the counter (so French), or cutting the hay field (so French), he 's in the kitchen creating wonderful, simple, fresh food from scratch (so, soooo French). We had dinner at the Hotel Du Pont a couple of days ago. We have been visiting for drinks and meals for 12 years and will continue to do so. The food is typical of the region and always cooked and presented to a high...standard. A three course meal for 2 with a pichet of wine and more bread than you could possibly eat can be had for as little as 35 euros, very good value, especially given the location. The owners, who seem to do everything, are always extremely welcoming and keen to help. On the face of it the hotel does seem a little old fashioned, but that is part of the charm!
Took evening dinner on three occasions at Hotel du Pont, Grolejac. Good varied menu. Very reasonably priced Fixed price 3 course meals priced from €13. All freshly cooked and well presented. Good wine list also reasonably priced. Great ambience on the outside terrace....Overall the interior of the hotel looked comfortable, attractive well kept. Did not stay there but would love to give it try. Most certainly recommend the restaurant good food, pleasant staff, good service, good prices.
we had a great family dinner outside on the shaded terrace in the hotel du pont. the new owners were in the hotel for three months and were charming. eating was delicious: simple menus, very fresh, careful cooking. they were very sweet with our four-year-old son. it was all very relaxed, not at all promising, with a warm and genuine welcome.
with new owners the extended summer opening times make this restaurant much more accessible for a meal, or just a drink. the typical regional menu is still present, but we will tell them that extra oriental decisions will soon be prepared by the Phillipino wife of the owner. we will definitely come back.
The menus here reflect the typical gastronomy of the Périgord Noir with les petits poissons being a great favourite. The family-run hotel and restaurant exudes period charm and we believe the frites here are to die for. Highly recommended. The rooms are spacious and gracious...too. What a gem.
Would highly recommend for a great French dinner or long lunch. Rooms are clean, basics and the hosts are extremely accommodating. It’s under new ownership and the couple that have taken it over are born to it. Set menu varies from €18 Euros up to...more like €27 and you can get others!
Both menus are very good value if you don 't want to eat à la carte . The slightly more expensive one had a starter of freshly caught local river fish fried in garlic delicious. The steak was beautifully cooked. Good service in a simple environment.
great food and service! our favs, tournedos de pied cochon (pork trotters) packed in bacon, served with pan-fried foie gras and the andouillette. also the “delete”... deep fried small fish from the Dordogne River. our goal.
