We stopped here for lunch but not speaking french we had no idea what the restaurant was. We quickly realised it was a sea food restaurant and tried to decipher the menu. Luckily there are a few none fishy items on the menu so we went for the salads as they sounded really interesting. We had the exotic salad and the goats cheese salad with apples. The waiter spoke good English and helped us with the menu. The only downside was the service was a little slow, although we weren’t really in any rush. We went to Hamiot first thing on arrival in Boulogne as we were both hungry after an early start. I ordered the Welsh burger mainly because I'm Welsh Maire had mussels and fries. After about 50 minutes the food came, though they had forgot the fries and when asked, two dishes were brought over semi cooked. The actual food was nice (except the fries) so later on in the week, we ate here again, to give it another chance. Sadly, it was even more of a let down. Little service and a wrong order, we had to get up to find a waiter to ask for bread. So definitely, I wouldn't go back there. One of the only times I've only paid what the bill says!
Our hotel outside Boulogne has the locals in for Christmas lunch so we have to look elsewhere, and fortunately Le Hamoit was again not only open but bustling!! They were happy to let us take our time so coffee, A break then light lunch, my wife had soup de Poisson and a small seafood plate for me .. both excellent. We reserved a table before going for a long walk along the seafront. As it gets very busy it is advisable to book a table to avoid disappointment.
Called primarily for a drink but ended up with my wife having the special of grilled oysters and a glass of white wine and I had the terrine with a whole baguette and a glass of St Omer followed by a Baba au Rum which included a glass of rum . Unexpected and really enjoyable enhanced by the charming waiter who was full of fun but very professional.
