We ate at this restaurant which is one of the restaurants of the Vitznauerhof where we stayed. I can only recommend this restaurant for its exquisite fish cuisine and its outstanding location. We were lucky to have the opportunity of al fresco dining on the little isle right on the lake. We chose the set menu consisting of delicacies like moules st. jacques, perch, sole, etc. All courses were presented in a stunningly imaginative way that we found it hard to start eating the beautiful arrangements. The chef M. Karim cooked the fish perfectly and combined it with matching veg and spices. The amazing fact was that we could have gone on eating even after the 5 courses. The suggested wines to go...
We stayed at the Park and walked over to the Hotel Vitznauerfhof, home of Sens restaurant. The restaurant is actually a free-standing building away from the property (the hotel features another restaurant as well). Sens is one of those restaurants that you wonder why it is in Vitznau since it is very pricey and the chef is very creative (when do you dine and the server puts a giant rock on the table with little nibbles to select?). Located right on the lake with a nice outdoor lounge area and 10 outdoor tables (too cold when we were there), there are only 8-10 tables inside. So reserve well in advance. Ich habe in mehreren mit Michelin-Sternen ausgezeichneten Restaurants gegessen und finde es merkwürdig, dass dieses Restaurant Sterne anstelle von Sternen hat. Die erste Hälfte meiner Mahlzeit bestand ausschließlich aus experimentellen Speisen, um zu experimentieren. Bedenken Sie: mittelschwere Langustinen... und Kakaosauce, keine tolle Kombination. Es kam oft vor, dass der Geschmack einer Zutat den Rest völlig übertraf. Die Textur und das eigentliche Handwerk waren großartig, aber an den zugrunde liegenden Gerichten und Aromen muss noch gearbeitet werden. Kellner nett, aber unglaublich schrecklich langsamer Service, fast eine Stunde Essen. Und das Essen war keine Stunden wert... Unglaublich...
We stayed at the hotel, and didn't know about Sens until our last day -- it is that well hidden from the rest of the hotel/ world, and the hotel has another lovely restaurant on the lakefront that you can't miss.Thankfully, we discovered this restaurant on our last evening.The setting is very special.The food very creative and whimsical.The kitchen had a problem getting the food out in a timely fashion for our dinner. Wir aßen zu Abend, als das Restaurant nur einen Michelin-Stern hatte, und jetzt war es an der Zeit, seinen zweiten Stern zu würdigen. Es war wundervoll. Wir essen oft in Michelin-Sterne-Restaurants, aber dieses ist etwas ganz Besonderes und unvergleichlich. Wir bestellen ein Gänge-Menü und jeder Gang war fantastisch. Die Kombinationen der Zutaten waren unglaublich. Der Service war großartig, das Personal war sehr freundlich und es sind überwiegend Niederländer.
Simple, trendy, delicately arranged dishes that were both delicious and refined. We had the yellow fin tuna, veal with capers, anchovies and lemon to start and the roasted char with pickled fennel, carrot-ginger mouse and quinoa. It was delightful. Such a beautiful setting as well.
