We ate at this restaurant based upon the high recommendation from the river boat cruise director that we had met with just prior to our dinner. After our meeting, we asked where in town we should go that would be off the beaten path; perhaps...with very few tourists more of a local experience. He grew up in this area and without hesitation said that if he was able to go to dinner that evening, this is where he would go. It was an easy walk to the restaurant; fairly easy to find with following his directions and a little signage. The good bits were great cold beer, pork schnitzel, trout, the service all first class, but let down by the world's worst apfel strudel. A microwave job soggy pastry, limp. flavourless and with a bit of squirty ceam on the side ..awful nearly euros completely wasted as it was almost inedible. What could have been an excellent review is now me complaining about a truly awful desert so sad. But don't miss the excellent pork schnitzel and the beer, just stay away from that strudel
This was a very interesting place to visit in the city center Getting to it is so easy meters from the tram stop nice ambient great choice of beers the food is not bad the prices well they are just like almost everywhere in...Basel The interesting thing here is if you are a smoker there is a special saloon for smokers that makes this place really interesting as one of the last places in Basel to smoke inside
Went for evening meal. Food was average, nothing special and expensive compared to other places visited in melk. Disappointed that no childrens menu and couldn't accommodate smaller meal so paid for a pasta dish for a year old. Service was average at best....Beautiful quiet village location
