Wir waren im Oktober für zwei Nächte in Melk, um das Stift zu besichtigen. Das Hotel zur Post ist ein familiengeführtes, sehr freundliches Hotel. Wir hatten ein ausgezeichnetes Zimmer mit Blick auf den Hauptplatz und einer schönen Aussicht auf den Stift. Das Zimmer war sauber, sehr komfortabel und das Frühstück war ausgezeichnet. Wir haben eines Abends im Hotelrestaurant zu Abend gegessen und es hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Ausgezeichnete Küche, abwechslungsreiche Speisekarte, toller Service, gute Auswahl an Weinen, schöne Atmosphäre. Alles in allem ein rundum angenehmer Aufenthalt.
We had dinner here on our first night in Melk. My wife and I started with cream of asparagus soup. It was pretty thin and watery but tasty. We both had the breaded lamb with vegetables which was good but somewhat dry. I also had the salad bar. It was excellent and probably the best item on the menu. You don't get many salads with a variety of vegetables in Europe so this was a real treat! We had a creme brulee for dessert and it was very good. The service was very good and the outdoor dining was great.
We had lunch in this restaurant in July 2017. We ordered tomato creme-soup. It was good. But the portion which was defined as big (the small one also is available) was rather regular than big.Also we ordered sausages in goulash source. These were the worst sausages we've eaten in Austria. Like were bought in the nearest shop. Even the sausages in small kiosks in Vienna were much more tasty. We were completely disappeared. The location is good. The service is also ok.
Having spent an idyllic day in Melk visiting the Abbey and town, what better place to sit down and have a meal or a cool drink. The restaurant is ideally situated to view the picture post card town and the towering view of the Abbey above. The friendly staff help to make any visit a most enjoyable experience.

Destination quality fine dining in this charming, relaxed family hotel. We were lucky enough to be here in marillen season (the unique local sweet apricots) and the dumplings were wonderful. Stay for breakfast, with home made jams. A really great find.
Spent a night here and the service was great. Room was very nice and looked out on the square and to the Abbey. Very good location and the food was great and the beer was cold!
Both hotel and restaurant were great. Friendly service, good room, and excellent food. Restaurant seems to be popular with locals which is always a good sign.
Great traditional dishes. Good, friendly staff. Catering to both tourists (how could you not in Melk) and locals. Great schnitzel and rundsuppe.
