Bought house stuff from here before, called in to look at lights, could not find any (a lot of tacky shiny chrome stuff from China at big money) so went into their Wickentree cafe for some lunch, wish we hadnt bothered. The prices were ridiculous for what was served. Mango and Brie Crispy Bites served with sweet chilli sauce £5.95... This was two tiny out of the freezer filo bites deep fried with a thimble of sauce! Homemade Soup of the Day £6.95... Decent soup but tiny 1/2 size bowl with a small piece of bread.. Hot Chicken and Bacon Caesar Wrap with hot chicken fillet, dry cured bacon, cos lettuce, parmesan cheese and caesar dressing £10.50.. Gosh, sounds great however reality was way diff...
On visiting the store to make some purchases, myself and my Daughter, decided to have some lunch, my Daughter chose soup, which was tomato with vegetables, I chose HOT chicken and bacon wrap, when food arrived soup was Luke warm, HOT chicken wrap was cold, I returned to the counter and explained on menu it says it’s HOT, ok no problem it’s returned to my table HOT. Visited here at the weekend and will be the last, we have been here at least 3 times before, and neither visit has been great, one occasion my elderly mother was given brown sauce instead of strawberry jam for her scones in which from the pot was then to ruin her scone, they are very busy and are probably rushing. My husband ordered cheese on toast, and I had a sandwich with supposed large chips to share. Pleasant morning shopping in the store and signed up for loyalty card First time visit to the restaurant and looking forward to it, unfortunately downhill after that, Sticky table and waitress cleaned but still not good. Coffee tepid and my wife and I shared the breakfast brunch board, 2 plates and 2 knives and forks. The 2nd plate under the first had never been washed at all and covered in food, similarly a fork was dirty returned to check out desk and items replaced. Returned to table only to find the other fork had baked on food on it, returned to desk and replaced. My friend and I had lunch at the Wicken Tree Restaurant in Housing Units on 14/11/2023, if that's what you can call it... We each ordered a warm chicken wrap and shared a side order of chips, which only consisted of about twelve chips. The size of the wrap was disappointing, as it was just one wrap cut in half and the chicken was cold. When we mentioned this to the waitress, she explained that it was because the wrap had salad on it. The chips were also placed on the same plate as the wrap, rather than on a separate dish. Ordered 2 Roast Turkey sandwiches Which didn’t arrive so after 45 minutes of waiting we asked for a refund and left. No idea what was going on today, and reading some of the reviews we aren’t the only one’s dissatisfied. The restaurant wasn’t full by any means, the waitresses didn’t know if they were coming or going taking orders to the wrong tables walking around with food looking who’s order it was. Saw other customers returning their food. This is Housing units not a greasy spoon cafe!! I expected more and so do a lot of others. Yet the complaints aren’t being taken seriously. I have dined at this restaurant several times in the past, but I have noticed a decline in quality. My daughter and I ordered the full English breakfast, which has significantly decreased in size. We received two overcooked bacon rashers, two thin sausages, a small portion of beans, and one egg. The hash browns were not homemade, but rather the type you can find in the supermarket freezer section. The breakfasts used to be excellent, but the portion sizes have shrunk and the quality of the food has decreased. Additionally, the cappuccino was lukewarm and the americano was served with cold milk. Unfortunately, we will not be returning to this restaurant in the future.
Terrible experience. Waited an hour for food. We were not warned that there was going to be a long wait, or else we would not have stayed. The food came and it was very poor. Sunday roasts were Luke warm. Kids meals were really poor (portions tiny). My sons cheeseburger was dry and tasteless. My children were still hungry when they got home. Visited here a couple of months ago with my daughter. We decided on afternoon tea, one being GF for myself. At £26.99 pp these where very small but mine was shocking! No wrap, no Quiche no stuffing where was my GF options? I did complain at the time and demanded a refund on my meal. I really wasn't going to put a review on only to see they are still advertising the same menu. You should be ashamed. This is wrong!!
