I find it hard to put into words how incredible my dining experience was, but I'll do my best. The chef prepared the most amazing meal I've ever had, and I've eaten at countless places. The flatbread was a revelation for my taste buds, introducing flavors I never knew I needed. The garlic sauce was so delectable that I couldn't resist wanting more. Today, Judy Wheeler and I enjoyed a wonderful dining experience. We started with appetizers of Brussels sprouts drizzled with maple aioli, along with walnuts. The bread board featured a delightful selection of orange creamsicle butter, fruits, and oil toppings. For the main course, we had perfectly cooked strip steak accompanied by whipped potatoes and French green beans, as well as a panko-crusted walleye served with fried rice, Sriracha seasoning, and vegetables. This place has been open a while but I have never considered going until we decided to catch a show at the local playhouse and wanted a decent meal before going. Hudson and Essex did not disappoint at all. I've been to some really great, upscale restaurants in my time and Hudson and Essex is very good. My steak was cooked to perfection, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere wasn't stuffy at all. Atmosphere is fabulous. The presentation of the dishes we ordered was amazing. The service is superb.The crab cake was delicious, as well as my salad. The filet was cooked perfect, the only thing I didn’t care for was it had a vinegar taste to it. I’m not sure if it was from the garnish or what.I ordered the lemon pound cake for dessert, it would of tasted better if they used fresh blueberries. It was too sweet.I would of liked to see a cheesecake on the dessert menu.The owners came by our table twice to make sure everything was ok. You don’t see that very often. What an adorable find! Being a mostly plant based eater, I was pleasantly surprised at the options and how delicious they were. We had the cold peanut noodles and the caprese risotto along with a bread board. Very happy with all choices. The owners were there, going table to table welcoming guests like old friends. Even though it was our first time there, they made us feel so welcome and like part of the community family. The wines were impressive as well. I would highly recommend!Vegetarian options: Very pleased with the number of options, as well as the quality of the food!
Was going to try the 8-course meal, but after trying a regular dinner experience, we won 't be wasting our money on a meh (and very overpriced) experience. Every course was cooked properly but the flavors were meh. And for a $54 steak entree, I expected more. Microgreens do not equal a higher price point just because you 've decided every item needs them. If we want steak or seafood, I know a lot of other restaurants where I can get better food a lot cheaper.
The service was exceptional and the atmosphere was wonderful, but the food was just average. The prices were unreasonably high, and the portion sizes were incredibly small. Additionally, they had removed our favorite dishes from the menu, even after we had previously voiced our concerns about their absence. I’m not sure we will return.
Not impressed , we went to have a nice date before baby makes his arrival. We have never been here before.Service was terrible we sat for 12 minutes without drinks. This is a wonderful gem in downtown Mansfield. The food was exquisite. The staff were extremely friendly. Plus the owners, Rick and Carol, came up and introduced themselves like great hosts do. I highly recommend this restaurant. Plus I didn’t make it down to the Wine Cavern which looks even more incredible.
