Absolutely DISGUSTING!!! no one should ever eat here EVER !!! for starters the place is filthy and unclean, all the plates are filthy, the kitchen is completely unsanitary. the chef frank didn't wash his hand while cooking with fish and chicken cross contaminating everything! the place looks like a abandon unregistered shut down building, SERIOUSLY DISGUSTING he was yelling at a girl who then left who looked like a waitress all I could here was him yelling, he then asked a waitress to run down to IGA in the middle of the night freezing cold, on top of that the meal take hours to make and are over charged for the service you receive and while I was waiting I noticed he is selling opshop furni...
Best food. Cooked to perfection!! This little restaurant will be an interesting experience. The people that complain about this place are the type of people that probably complain about everything. So don't let them put you off. Well worth giving this restaurant a go! Owner/cook is a bit different/strange. But very interesting. He used to own 9 big Italian restaurants in Melbourne. He came to Rosedale to semi retire and just has this little place because he loves to cook!! Very lucky to have a chef like this in Rosedale. Price is very good. Meals are huge. Can take the other half of your meal home with you cause you will not be able eat it all.
Decided to try after seeing good reviews online. I was still pleasantly surprised by the fantastic food and cozy atmosphere. We had three courses and it was a very well priced bill. We ended up staying for over two hours as we were so comfortable and cozy next to the open fire. We went on a Wednesday night and were the only patrons, Frank the owner says he likes it quiet and doesn't like being busy, I recommend going during the week. Frank was lovely and recommended a delicious fettuccine calabrese I will definitely be coming back!
This restaurant has moved to Sale. Since being shut down for not following regulations. My work colleagues and I were in town after some Italian. I had read the reviews and was very skeptical about eating here and let alone spending money where the staff is mistreated. I was pleased to say the service was fast, the food was delicious. And Frank (the owner) was hospitable. Not one of the 6 of us had a bad meal. I had the marinara which was delicious! I’ll be back again. Will review if the experience is different from this time.

I frequent this quaint different restaurant/cafe 3 - 4 times a year. It's not for everyone especially if you are used to eating quickly. It is different! the atmosphere is totally relaxed and all food is cooked fresh and on the spot, which takes time. Frank the owner presents his extensive experience in a very laid back way. The decor is different and you can't help but feel relaxed. Give yourself plenty of time so you can take your time to enjoy authentic Italy in Rosedale.

Not only is the owner abusive, the place is unsanitary and he is extremely disorganized (yes, the users who noticed waitresses running across the road to buy ingredients for their meals from the local IGA were correct). Avoid if you can. You might get a pleasant experience when the owner is in a good mood, but that's pretty much rolling a dice and hoping for the best.

The food was absolutely fantastic. I had the salad and it was fresh and tasteful, large serving size. Partner had the lamb and the sauce and meat was terrific. Couldn't fault the food, lovely flavours. Was a little bit of wait for the food as it was cooked fresh to order. The layout of the restaurant was nice with different rooms for each table and fireplaces nearby. Meals were reasonably priced as well.

Magnificent! The food is amazing, real Italian food, if you want to experience real flavour, real Italian experience then this is the place. Dont get me wrong its quirky like being in someones dining room, but a great feeling to feel so welcome. Have a chat to Frank a real delight! Just try it.
Got charged for burned risotto even though it was inedible and not eaten. This place is not even close.
