We stopped off in Roses on our way to Cadaqués and chose the Iris Bar Restaurant as a place to have a bite to eat, based on TripAdvisor reviews, and were very pleased with our choice. Arriving at around 6.30pm saying we wanted to eat something, we were told by the excellent French waiter that there wouldn 't be food available for an hour, so we ordered water and a bottle of Verdejo, leaving it in an ice bucket on our outdoor table, and observed the passeggiata on the promenade as the sun was going down. When the time came, we were given menus and ordered a portion of goat 's cheese, honey and sesame seed croquetas to share, followed by gambas a la plancha and soupe de poisson. The croquetas...
What a happy thing to have a compassionate waitress. We asked her several questions (different because on some details of some dishes) and instead of answering without knowing too much, she went every time to ask in the kitchen! any pleasure of knowing that we are not answering anything, without worrying about our questions (which we had unfortunately in a lot of restaurant) but that we are given the trouble to answer with reliable information! (very important for us because I am pregnant and so there is certain thing that I can't eat.) more dishes were excellent and very well presented. Cherchant un petit restaurant sympa en bord de mer, nous pensions encore tomber sur un attrape touriste. Nous ne nous sommes jamais autant trompés ! Un véritable délice, certes un peu plus cher que les autres restaurant aux alentours, mais ça en vaut la peine ! Produits de qualités, bien cuisinés, très rapide et accueil très sympa ! Je vous conseille (entre nous) le suprême de dinde, qui est absolument divin, ainsi que les saucisses catalane et purée au paprika (la purée maison est juste à tomber par terre de régal) Une très agréable surprise ! Cela fait longtemps qu'on ne s'était pas autant régalés dans un restaurant !
Good small beach restaurant with good product and a good cook. We tried the “paella” and the octopus. Both were good enough. The service is good and the athmosphere is a bit more sophisticated than the traditional “tapas spanish traditional beach places around. Maybe a bit too “frenchy” for the Costa Brava but clearly a good option for a good lunch or a nice evening meal in front of the beach. Prices are reasonable.
We went to Iris for lunch while in Roses for a few days, based on the trip advisor reviews . We were not disappointed! Food was fabulous and service very good. Based on out lunch visit we dined at Iris with friends two nights in a row . The goat cheese croquettes with sesame and honey ate stand out, also enjoyed some nice wines
What a lovely place, the menu tempted us to visit for a tapas lunch, as it was different. We enjoyed the homemade croquettes and cod fritters, followed by a fantastic chocolate dessert. The staff were very friendly, a lovely seaside location and the food very well presented. We will be back to try more of the menu.
the delicious breakfast, with toast of quality bread, coffee and very good juices, and the very friendly waiters! also very good at price... just asking for vermut! we will be safe!
