My mom chose this restaurant for Mother's Day. She ordered the senior turkey dinner and really enjoyed it. I ordered the Mother's Day special, which was poached salmon with dill sauce, roasted potatoes, and the vegetable of the day. The special came with a choice of tea, coffee, or soda, and dessert for $17.99. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with my meal. The roasted potato was small, dry, and tasteless, and the salmon seemed to be a pre-packaged filet that can be found at a grocery store for much less than what I paid. The vegetable of the day was overcooked carrots. The dessert options were a small piece of blueberry or cherry cheesecake, which seemed to be store-bought and not homemade...
My husband ordered the fish chowder and a hot turkey sandwich. It came with a choice of mashed potatoes, baked, or French fries and had carrots as well. I had the maple chicken salad. All were good sized portions and in spite of the busyness of the day, our food arrived quickly. My chicken was warm, juicy and flavourful, the greens had onions, red peppers, and a bit of a bite to them. The dressing (served on the side) was a good blend with maple and helped cut the bite of the greens. Melody our waitress, was a treasure. While at the Apple Blossom Festival in Kentville, we had 3 meals at the Big Stop Irving. The staff were phenomenal and helpful. We talked to one police officer and he was very helpful in directing us to the events going on. The food at the Big Stop was great although the last day the wings were not as great as they had been previously. We had breakfast and all 3 of us had something different and it was great. Having senior menus helped as well with smaller portions.
Ordered traditional breakfast. Was served hashbrowns saturated in oil. Toast that was burned and also soaking wet. Oily eggs. And bacon with poor flavor. Asked for discount and nothing was given. Horrible service server/supervisor said food was cooked beautifully after all the complaints I made its obvious she does not know what beautifully cooked food is.
I stopped in to the Irving Big Stop on Saturday! I had the roast turkey dinner! The potatoes were dry and warm, while the turkey also dry! The dressing (stuffing) was good, but it too was warm! The portions size was good, big portions! The coffee was good,
Husband went inside to go eat today and was refused and they laughed. So apparently they dont serve truckers anymore. They had people eating inside and yet told him they were not open. Some truck stop. He will never be returning for anything.
Everything was wonderful, very nice and funny staff! Food came out faster than usain bolt in the 100metre dash and it was perfect. Definitely the fastest eat in location in the county.
We ended up coming here for take out (because our local chippy was going to make us wait FORTY FIVE minutes for fish chips! It was as expected absolutely fine.
