What a tremendous, different dining experience! A seven minute ride from the center of town, and from the outside, 'restaurant ' might be your fourth guess. But inside is a 20-seat dining experience that you will find both memorable, and delicious. Benoit and Vincent are fun and personable, but they are also very, very good at what they do. For us, horse and duck were the fare of the evening (yes, horse), and both were prepared to perfection. Prices are consistent with the quality of the meal, and the wine list is truly endless. We have eaten virtually everywhere in this beautiful city since 1996, but IX pour Bistro was one of our finest dining experiences in this gastronomic haven. Thanks!
My family just enjoyed the most amazing meal here last week. Loved everything about this place. We brought our two daughters (14 and 11) with us, and I was a bit nervous that their presence wouldn 't be appreciated, or that they wouldn 't appreciate the food. I couldn 't have been more wrong, on all accounts. The man in the front of the house immediately made us all feel comfortable and welcomed, and my kids loved every bite of the food. My 11 year old deemed her lamb 'the best thing I 've ever tasted ' and they both happily ate the foie gras cake for dessert. Go for the food, go for the wine, go for the wonderful, welcoming vibe, but by all means...GO.
We attempted to make a reservation last September during our visit but were unsuccessful. Finally, we were able to secure a table this time in May 2018, and it was definitely worth the wait! We have dined at many top restaurants in Quebec and across Canada, and this one ranks high in terms of flavor, presentation, and creativity (such as the incredible foie gras dessert). In addition to the delicious food, Vincent and Benoit truly enhance the overall experience with their hospitality and charm.
This restaurant, owned by a chef and his friend, is located off the beaten path and has a unassuming atmosphere. They offer incredible food and a fantastic dining experience. The wine list is displayed on the chalkboard walls. The menu changes daily, with all dishes made fresh. The duck, gnocchi, lamb, and foie gras dessert are particularly outstanding. I couldn't be happier I found out about this place. We had the most amazing dinner tonight! Love the food love the small, intimate, personal experience love the fact I'm going to recommend everyone I know visiting Quebec to come here. Absolutely the best experience while on holiday in this lovely city. Totally reminded me of Chez Toinette in Paris. Merci beaucoup Vincent and Ben!!
Heaven on a plate! When you hear stories about a small place off the beaten path it should be about IX Pour Bistro. Hospitality, food, and wine were done in such a manor that it left me wanting more. Restaurants like this are hard to find but it’s safe to say IX Pour Bistro you have been discovered. Call in advance for reservations. You will not be disappointed.
