that was our first time we tried this restaurant. before the time reservations made for counterseats. we sat first next to the entrance to the kitchen. we asked to switch to the other side of the counter, because from some reason it smells like channel over there. right in front of us, behind the theke, was a cook that prepared the various rolls, and pressed sushi, along with salads and more. he had very good knife skills and prepared all dishes quickly. we have noticed, however, that he had to clean with the same cloth and wipe his knife, and also wipe the counter, cut and hardly rinsed the cloth. if they wipe the table tops to remove dirt, they should rinse the spice. or use another wut to...
I eat here frequently, at least monthly. I am friendly to the waitstaff and even buy one of them a drink every time I go as a tradition. We went for my wife’s birthday, on her actual birthday. We told our waiter, bought the most expensive bottle of sake in the size we wanted, and had a lovely meal. Despite our repeat business, generous tips, and respectful demeanor, they didn’t so much as offer my wife a bowl of ice cream as a happy birthday treat or thank you for coming. I don’t expect free food often, if ever, but when a loyal customer comes on a special occasion, treat them to something and celebrate them. This is a great izakaya, although the menu is somewhat limited. We enjoyed everything we ordered. The Sukiyaki with cold Udon was a delightful surprise, especially with the soft, runny egg they crack open at the table. It was both nice and delicious. The Yakitori was also excellent, and I highly recommend trying the chicken meatball. The service here is fantastic; the staff is very helpful and friendly. They also stay open late until 11:00. I would definitely recommend this wonderful place!
Very good food. The beef tongue was our favorite. It has a very thick cut and is tender as well as very well seasoned. The oysters, salmon and eel sushi, we ordered, were very fresh. The uni beef sashimi was alright. The taste of the soy sauce was a little bit too strong and the uni did not taste sweet. The pressed salmon sushi was only okay since it has too much rice in comparison to the salmon. Overall, the food, particularly the beef tongue is very delicious. Will definitely return.

An absolute new favorite. Everything on the menu tasted fresh and delicious and the atmosphere was very pleasant. The service was also supreme and everyone made us feel welcome and at home. Props to chef Matt for some AMAZING sushi dishes. Easily the best food I’ve had in my entire life! I am from CT but I know whenever I am in California I will make the trip to Hachi because it was an experience I will remember for the rest of my life. If I could give more than five stars I would <3
This is a fantastic izakaya that offers all the beloved dishes you’d expect. The yuzu pork cheek is outstanding, and the snapper carpaccio is very well done. However, the tuna avocado tartare was less impressive; the combination of tuna and chunks of avocado resulted in an off-putting texture. On the positive side, the Kobe beef sashimi paired with uni is a great choice. I highly recommend ending your meal with the Pork Shabu Shabu.
This was our first visit to the restaurant, and we really enjoyed the small dishes and the pork lebu we ordered. While the prices are on the higher side, I believe it's worth it.
