this is a small but attractive bar, which is attached to the well-known art hotel. a good selection of alcohol here including a pretty fetching calvados, which reminds of a normandie trip a long time ago returned and visit the local calvados makers service is a bit variable at the ixl bar. we ordered a cheese plate and were solemnly promised by the barserver that the plate would be delivered to the seat area in the hotel reception only next to the bar entrance. we went into this opposite because the bar itself was very busy. However, the cheese was not delivered as promised and on request we found the lost plate itself lying forlorn and forget the far end of the bar. not good....read more
I had the best drink of my life here. my man and I were drinking for our honeymoon at henry jones. I asked the bartender for some bright and sweet guts. they made something with fresh lemon, maulberry juice and local poltergeist gin, which was so good, we delayed our dinner reservation so that I could have another! our only complaining is that it is absolutely ice cold in no heating or fire sitting next to and the leather seats made it feel even colder. add some room heating and it will get a rating when we are.
We stayed at the hotel for two nights and didn't want to travel too far for drinks in the evening, before and after dinner at one of their excellent restaurants, so we settled on the IXL Long Bar as our watering hole each evening.The staff were friendly and certainly knew their cocktails, wines and spirits. The place is cosy and a great way to spend a relaxing evening. Thoroughly recommended.
We visited during Dark Mofo so our cocktails were themed. Sour - seemed to be a Pisco Sour, and Savoury was an Old-fashioned (but coloured black!!). The array of spirits (many local ) behind the bar was mind-boggling and the drink pours were generous

with one of the best bar offers in hobart, this bar is a welcome relief from the cold. the variety of local whiskey, gin, moonshine and other spirituoses was impressive, as the addition of many local Australian ghosts.
we really enjoyed this little wine and cocktail bar. comfortable feeling and great service by experienced barman. we have repeated customers during our stay.
Great little bar with fantastic ambience wine list. Service very friendly. Great fit out including open fire places. It's a must I think when in Hobart!

Smashed avocado on sough dough and ham cheese tomato toasted sandwich ... we also had drinks there in the afternoon and evening ...very pleasant
A small but perfectly formed bar with an outstanding range of alcohol available . We were lucky to be there when the trio were playing
