Rushden Lakes is a great location and the setting is perfect. We have been coming here since J Blue opened, but our satisfaction has been decreasing. The service is disorganized, leading to long waits and food arriving late, sometimes cold or even after we have finished our drinks. The cakes are dry, stale, and unpleasant. Although the menu describes the food nicely, the flavors fail to live up to expectations. The staff are friendly and professional most of the time, but the system they work under does not benefit the customers or the staff. The prices are too high for the quality of food offered. We just now had brunch at Jamaica Blue in Rusden Lakes. Actually we were initially going to the place opposite until we saw cashless only. So took a look at the menu and asked if Jamaica blue took cash which they did. We both opted for the booked brunch breakfast. There were a couple of things we asked if we could swap and the waitress said no problem at all, which is quite rare nowadays. She was lovely to chat too. This café used to be known for its delicious cakes and coffee, but the cake selection has been greatly reduced. During my recent visit, my friend ordered a berry muffin and a coffee, while I ordered a hot chocolate. After waiting outside for a while, we received the berry muffin, which my friend enjoyed. However, a couple who arrived after us were served their drinks before us. When I inquired about our drinks, I was told they were 'nearly ready' and that they try to serve customers in order. Unfortunately, when our drinks finally arrived, my hot chocolate was lukewarm. I will not be returning to this restaurant. I ordered the avocado mash with bacon, but it arrived 10 minutes later without any bacon. I sent the plate back to the kitchen and after 15 minutes, it came back with hot bacon and a cold, hard egg, along with everything else on the plate being cold. I would have expected the chef to remake the dish, but instead, I had to send it back to the kitchen again. Finally, I refused the order and received a full refund. I am appalled that the chef thought they could provide such poor service. I will not be returning to this restaurant.

This is definatly a cafe/resturant of two halves..... Coffee was nice, strong and warn BUT.... The Sausage Rolls were the worst we have ever had.....greasy soggy pastry and were pretty sure it wasnt sausage meat inside it.....it tasted veggy (and unappertising... ......but wasnot labelled as such so have to assume it wanst vegitarian and when I asked the girl behind the till she hadnt a clue.... So nice for coffee not so nice for food...and as per other reviewes it could do with a decent clean too I 'm afraid....
Service and attitude of manager absolutely terrible. An hours wait for food, and even then items were missing. Understand that things go wrong but it's how you deal with it with customers that counts. No acknowledgement, no apology, no offer of a free coffee to smooth out the wait. 2ndctime on last 6 months we've tried it and it's not been great. Such a shame because it used to be a regular weekend visit fir us.
We attended an event at the lakes that was run by Blue Light Card. They had stands and events to attract people to the lakes and support the businesses. We chose to stop here for refreshments. The bill came to £26 and we presented our card and we were given 40pence discount. We felt appreciated for all the hard work we do thank you
We love coming here, such nice food and coffee and the vibe is always really welcoming and friendly. We didn't realise it was a chain until we found our new local when we moved, and realised how much we missed this particular branch. Definitely worth coming here for brunch before walking around the shops and lake.

My wife and I visited to have coffee and bacon rolls. The food (when we finally got it) was OK. The service, however, was dreadful. The woman at the counter couldn't even be bothered to acknowledge our presence she just ignored us! Never again!
Very very slow service. There seems to be no management. Food arrived cold. Will not return even for a drink as these took 15 minutes
