Really liked the food. I probably would have never tried this place based on its location and my lack of familiarity with Jamaican food. But recently was on a cruise that stopped in Jamaica and thought the food was pretty good. So we have this place a try and I personally really liked it. My wife thought it was spicy, but she thinks anything more than salt and pepper is spicy so don't take her word for it unless you are the same way. I tried the curry chicken and honestly it was delicious. It was a little spicy and the spice did build as I ate, but it wasn't over the top. My wife had the j chicken and I thought it was delicious. Wow! What an explosion of flavor! Everything we tried was absolutely delicious. We opted for a diverse selection, and our favorite dish was the oxtail—it was incredibly tender and packed with flavor. Our second favorite was the beef patties, which had a wonderfully flaky outer crust and the meat inside was seasoned perfectly. My husband ordered the crab cakes and felt they were well worth the price. Honestly, everything we sampled was tasty: the jerk chicken plate, curry chicken, plantains, the cabbage side, and the rice and peas. We’re eager to try the goat curry next, so we will definitely be coming back! If you’re in the mood for some variety, this place is a must-try!
Shortly after, I received another call from a different number regarding our order. After the poor customer service experience, we decided to cancel it. Unfortunately, we were charged for an order that they claim never went through, and we are now hoping for a refund.
Eager to try their food, we then placed an order verbally over the phone and sent someone to pick it up ourselves. However, when they arrived, the staff didn’t have enough change, leaving us shortchanged. While the food itself was decent, many items on the menu were unavailable. Given the overall service we experienced, we won’t be ordering from them again.
This was my first visit, and I'm really happy to see that the Valley finally has more options beyond just Mexican cuisine. I love Mexican food, but it's nice to have some variety! I thoroughly enjoyed the oxtails dish; it was definitely worth the price. I noticed someone criticized the portion for having 80% rice, but I actually appreciate that they don’t skimp on the rice and beans. Just save some for later instead of complaining! Lol. I’ll definitely be back next week to try the jerk chicken.

If you want legit J chicken then this is place to get that fix. I order out here weekly and its always on point. Everything on the menu is whipped up fresh, if you are ever in the mood for something different in mcallen then give Jamaican j stop a shot, I reccomend it?
I visited just before closing and had an excellent experience. The service was outstanding, and the food was delicious. The cabbage and rice were particularly flavorful, and both the oxtails and stew chicken were cooked to perfection. I genuinely have no complaints!
I ordered the oxtail plate and the jerk chicken plate, and both were absolutely fantastic! I didn't expect to find this level of quality in McAllen. Truly outstanding!
I've been here several times, and the food is consistently amazing. My favorite dishes are the curry chicken, curry goat, and oxtail.
