Glad we finally tried this place after seeing it on check, please. Cute, cozy atmosphere. Our main waiter took our order we didn’t really see him again but the other wait staff were nice helpful. Food was solid. I enjoyed the ham they used in the eggs Benedict I like my griddled pancake. The gravy for the biscuits gravy was decent but a bit salty I wasn’t a fan of the biscuit they used. I’m Glad I ordered it as a side rather than the main dish. I ordered decaf coffee didn’t get it til halfway through the meal. Street parking was free on Sunday which was nice.
Partner and I were both completely underwhelmed by the food at this supposed neighborhood staple. Ordered avocado toast and it was the strangest combination of sub ingredients (shredded lettuce, tomato, italian dressing, brown guacamole) thrown on a single stale piece of wheat toast. I couldn't eat it the flavor was so bizarre. Waitress was kind and helpful, but I cannot by any means recommend this place for yummy breakfast. Food is not good. How one ruins an easy staple like avocado toast is beyond me.
The Chicken Lime soup doesn't disappoint. The rave is real, get yourself a bowl. I also tried the chicken tinga burrito, it was delicious and worth a try with their salsa verde. I appreciated that the burrito was nicely tosted, and it felt light on my stomach. The service was fast and the food was great. I had my meal around 8:30 am, so the place wasn't so full. The atmosphere is modern but cozy in a non-intimidating way. Janik's Cafe is for everyone, go grab a bite, you'll feel at home.
Ideal small diner vibes for breakfast or lunch! The staff is so friendly and attentive, you feel right at home in the restaurant! The atmosphere is also family and kid friendly which makes it feel really open and relaxed. The food portions were greats and the red sauce chicken enchiladas were amazing! I also love the energy of a breakfast place with one kind of coffee and free refills! I had nothing but good things to say about this cafe and would definitely stop in again!

I'm a fan. I've been primarily for lunch and it's a great diversion from most places on Division. Janik's is comfortable, reasonably priced, and really good food. Everything seems homemade and prepared with care, and delicious! I tend to get one of the salads made into a wrap, and I love the pasta salad that comes with it. They have a dog friendly patio and service is friendly. This is definitely a regular for me.
It’s a lively place , very active and good turnover of customers so you will be seated quickly and that’s great, we liked the atmosphere , the food was good , the service was EXCEPTIONAL, staff are nice and responsive and everything came out pretty fast. My favorite things was the chicken, the bacon and of course the French toast , would absolutely go again!
I’ve eaten here countless times and it’s always delicious. Staff is super friendly and provide great service. I love their south of the border breakfast items. Great food, great value.
I had a business meeting here and the service was amazing! I can’t wait to eat here next time I’m back in the city!
