The beef was pretty good, but two huge chunks of red pepper were added, but not asked for. Would have rather have had more beef, even though there was a decent amount. The burger was pretty mediocre and overcooked. Breaded mushrooms were yummy and a good amount of marinara, which is better than many places that skimp. First time trying the place and had DoorDash (which is so overpriced) deliver it. The first thing the delivery woman said was The place is run by little kids with no adult in sight. Oldest couldn 't have been more than 14. That confirms what others have posted. There should be at least one adult around to make sure things are kept under control. And if it is true that the kids...
With all the Italian beef places in Chicago, there is a huge debate that is best. I found that most people like those with whom they grew up, and many people in the Schiller Park and Harwood Heights think that Jay's Beef is the best. I thought both the Italian beef and the hot dog were very good and delicious. But the French fries were just wonderful. Jay's beef is a simple, non-frills place with good Chicago style food at reasonable prices. And that's been like that for 40 years.
We've been going here for a good variety of beef and sausage sandwiches for 40+ years now. I can remember the days when you could get an Italian beef sandwich for under $2.00... Those days are long gone, but the quality has remained just as good as it always was... Thanks for the many years of serving up such quality food...
Needed something quick to eat before heading to the airport so I stopped here. Beef was very good, not to dry, not to soggy. I ordered a double cheeseburger for my husband, he said it was by far the best burger he’s had from a fast food restaurant. My son also really enjoyed his pizza puff. Thank you!
Here from Atlanta and was happy enough to walk into this little place. I ordered the beef and sourcing combo with sweet and hot peppers with melted cheddar.... WOW! Absolutely delicious!!! The staff is very friendly and helpful. If you fly in O’hare, you have to stop here!

The Italian beef is excellent, quality meat, good hot jardine and sweet peppers. A little expensive at $9.05. When I was younger, I always thought at the site of Narragansett avenue that they had one of the best beef in Chicago.
Great beefs, nice size but a little on the pricey side. Fries are the best! I guess it's true you get what what you pay for. Whenever I'm in the area I make a point of stopping there.
A must try if you are in chicago. They need a better menu to let people know what and how they can order as lots of people have never been.
