Joe's Crab Shack is closing its doors on May 26, 2024. My mom is treating me to dinner there for my birthday before they shut down. Comparing the pictures, I've noticed that the quality of their famous Classic Steam Pot has really declined as they approach closing. The left picture from 2022 shows what it used to look like, while the right picture looks like something you’d find in a garbage can. To make matters worse, they've replaced the hushpuppies shown on the left with just a single hard-boiled egg covered in Old Bay that's visible in the right picture above the corn. The lesson here is clear: when a restaurant announces it’s going out of business, it's best to avoid eating there!
This was my first experience at Joe's Crab Shack. The atmosphere of the restaurant was enjoyable and well-decorated. However, the food didn’t quite live up to expectations. Unfortunately, it felt more like a fast food seafood place. To begin, we ordered calamari and clam chowder. The calamari was crispy and the clam chowder was thick and tasty. Moving on to the main courses, my partner enjoyed her crab legs, but my shrimp dish was disappointing. The sides were also rather bland. On a positive note, the service was good, but I likely won’t return.
The food was fantastic! My husband ordered a steam boiler, and he really enjoyed it. My son had a burger from the children's menu and upgraded his dessert for just 99 cents. I had a burger as well, and it was fresh and delicious. My daughter chose a fish combination, and it turned out to be an excellent choice too. The restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere, and the decorations are stunning. We visited on a Tuesday when there were only three or four tables occupied, so we received outstanding service. While the salmon was smaller than it appeared in the photos, it was bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. The meal was fantastic, and I enjoyed every bite. I can’t remember our server's name, but he mentioned he had just started and returned to ensure everything was alright. We were a large family at the time. The food was fantastic, and the service exceeded my expectations. My server, Carmen, was incredibly attentive and quick, which really enhanced the experience. The flavors were delightful, although the crab was a bit on the dry side, but a little butter fixed that! There's something for everyone on the menu, but the fries truly stand out. The restrooms were spotless as well. I'm definitely coming back!
We had a nice dinner for two. Started with the sampler the was surprisingly good. Steampot was great, couldn't finish, cant go wrong there. Also had the fish and chips platter, wow the fish was crispy and crunchy and absolutely perfect. Got some signature drinks that were good. Server was very nice and attentive and good at his job.. we had a very nice time and plan on going back!
A bajillion stars for food quality, service and timely orders even though they were short staffed. Very impressed and will return. Feels very much like Florida or somewhere by the southeast coast even though in Deptford! Happy to have found it!!
We had an amazing time on Mother's day and the menu 4course for mom mommy delicious. The food was hot and cooked properly. Our server was friendly, attentive, courteous and serviced our table constantly..we had all we needed. We will return. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
