first off the bat walking in, was given no recognition or greeting. after ordering and waiting for an unnecessarily long period of time, our two servings of dumplings arrived. at first glance the dumplings appeared delicious and satisfactory, though it wasn't until closer inspection that we noticed a medium sized cockroach attached to one of them, and had appeared to be cooked with them! so disgusting... after getting the attention of a waiter, he simply took the plate away, without muttering a single word, he took the plate and disappeared into the kitchen. only to be seen approximately 15 minutes later with what appeared to be a freshly made plate. again, no apology or words spoken or any...

I have gone a few times to this establishment and shan't be going again.
The whole place is a very mixed bag of dirty toilets that don't work, bar staff that are all over the shop, strange vibe of people and disgusting security.
My friend and I had left to go buy cigarettes next door and tried to get back in no more than a minute later. The bouncer (greasy ponytail) argued that we were never inside (he had seen us upstairs - this place was empty too), wanted us to provide evidence of leaving to buy cigarettes and then wanted to check the CCTV to see if we actually left. After he saw he was loosing, he told us we were too drunk to come in... it was 8pm and we had, had 2 (terrible cocktails)...
Security guards in Middle Bar Sydney are a disgrace. I often see (as regular to the bar next door) how people are dismissed at the entry door just because the way they look, their race, their gender, etc. The excuse will always be your "level of intoxication" which applies to you even if you don't drink - it happened to me.
If you look the reviews on Facebook, Google, and other websites you will see that this is a common pattern that has been going on for long time thus most probably the general manager of the venue is already aware of this behaviour and unfortunately most probably has instructed/trained the staff to do it that way.
Please make yourself a favour, choose another venue and...

Cute interior. I love this cute joint just off Taylor's Square (and you get to play mini 10 pin bowling if you liek a game or two after dumpings, hehe)
We tried just about everything at Johnny Wong's as it's a small menu to choose from. I'm loving my prawn dumpling, the usual. And the mocktails (or was it coktails?) are just as fun. I remembered there was chilli in my mocktail, giving it a bit of zing. It was delicious from memory. We're talking about a year ago haha!
Time to return again with friends!
A brilliant little nook for some dumplings. Place is small, orders comes out fast and the staff are super friendly. There's also a little bar where you place your orders so it's super convenient and best of all, the dumplings is delicious! Note: can get quite busy very quickly!
Absolutely disappointed. Horrible service with an attitude, the food is less than average & overpriced. It could easily fool someone who doesn't know anything about Asian food. Sydney siders can't be that stupid. Will never go back again
This place looked fun and artsy but we found the food to be very average. I've definitely had better dumplings for the same price and had a little more room to enjoy them.
