A big shoutout to Mari Zigas and the children's librarians! I regularly participate in the Sensory Free Play program, which takes place on Mondays from 10 to 11 AM. They offer a variety of engaging activities, including a live bearded dragon, liquid sensory floor tiles, a Lego table, a ball pit, a pom-pom color sorting activity, puzzles, and Magnatiles, among others. The participants represent a wonderful mix of religions, races, and backgrounds. The librarians are kind, cheerful, and incredibly helpful. It's a fantastic way to spend time with little ones. I truly appreciate their efforts in creating such an enriching environment for the youngest patrons and their caregivers!
On the webpage, it says that it has 3 kindles available for checkout. When i went to check one out, a short-haired non binary librarian denied me saying that they needed a software update and to come back in a few days. A few days later, over the phone another librarian said that they shouldn’t even have that they have kindles available at all on the website, because none of them work. Why are the librarians wasting my time with this foolishness? Do you have kindles available for checkout like it says on the website or not?
The children's area is incredibly noisy, and it appears that the staff isn't effectively managing the situation. They keep asking the kids to be quiet, but the children just ignore them. At times, kids are at the computers, yelling and screaming, which disrupts others around them. I understand that they're just kids, but there needs to be some guidance and consequences to ensure they don't disturb others. I've noticed several parents moving to the other side because their children were being unruly.
Honestly was excited when I saw all the art and the beautiful building. First time at my local library, asked to get a library card, checked to see if I could use my preferred name on the card, was told yes. I was very happy until the man behind the counter back tracked and told me that he misunderstood and preferred names are not acceptable because it would lead to issues looking my account up later.Was really a let down. I was too nervous and embarrassed to argue. I dont think I'll be going back.

Love this place! Come here multiple times a week. They always have fun classes and activities going on for kids. Everyone is so friendly, kind and attentive. The book selection is also fantastic. Better than any library experience I’ve ever had growing up, even as an adult it’s always a pleasure coming here.
The library provides 30 min of free internet service. They also provide print services for documents A4 sheet. Charging $0.15 per page for printouts. Staffs are polite and nice. Overall good experience in 20 min visit. Recommending from my side.
Cathy Folk-Pushee, the coordinator of crafts, is the best, THE BEST! Hackensack Library has a real gem.
The interior is air-conditioned, very clean, and quiet, with helpful staff.
