Came with my family for a HolyDay Season gathering. We made the reservation early enough to avoid the dinner rush. The driveway entrance is on a hill and we had to stop for the valet on a steep incline. It was challenging to help my elderly mother out of the car! We were given a beautiful round table by the window, but with the lighting you were basically just looking at a reflection of yourself! The menu had something for everyone except the vegetarians. We’re glad there was a kid’s menu. The food was generally very good, as they must start with high-quality cuts. When mom is in town we go to Jolly Fisherman! She loves a good lobster and you can’t get better than here! Mine was broiled, hers was steamed, both were perfectly prepared and delicious! (I was seriously tempted by the beautiful seasonal stone crabs they showed me but i stuck to my original plan… Of course the generous bread basket and crudités bowl were a great start, along with the waiter’s recommendation for a peachy cocktail for my mom. And make sure to leave room for their great desserts! We shared a banana cream pie slice loaded with fresh bananas, perfect end to a perfect meal and great service from the minute you arrive!
The crab cakes were excellent. The baked clams lacked flavor and I would pass on those. Fish and chips (fries) were excellent, as were the macadamia crusted salmon, and the special, bay scallops. The fried fisherman's platter was good but the clams were a bit gritty and the food was warm not hot. Desserts were expensive and run of the mill. While you used to get a salad as part of the meal, that is now gone. The choice of vegggies is also gone and prices have gone way up. I'll still eat here for the fish choices, as most L.I. restaurants offer few fish choices on their menus.
eating was very moderate, the portions do not correspond to the high passes. the server are nice, but not attentive. they should try to lower their prices and the portion size. they already eliminated the salate that came with each main course. I'm sorry to say, but it's true.

Food was good as usual except the wait for a server was rather long. I guess they were short staffed. Once we got a waiter, he was very nice except we had 3 lobsters at our table and no bibs. Needless to say, we were unhappy about that.
eating at jolly fisherman is consistently very good. one of my faves is roared meeresscallops, with tartaric acid sauce. always a winner. in general no loud place service competent.
jolly fisherman disappointed never! eat, ambiente, service and a great waiter. it was silvester, the restaurant was full, service and eating was excellent.
The Jolly Fisherman is fantastic. Dinner was exceptional. Our waiter was wonderful. Really enjoyed ourselves.
